Job Location: Bellevue, WA

Duration: 12 months (Potential fulltime or extension up to 18 months)

Job Description/ Responsibilities/ Day to Day Activities:

Our industry is rapidly changing, requiring our engineering teams to innovate and adapt quickly to a wide variety of business and technical challenges. A successful candidate will have a strong passion for the customer innovation, high scale web development, and a relentless drive for quality results behind flawless engineering execution!

Qualifications:

• Good experience in software development with a track record of shipping at least 2 large cross-functional projects in a high scale, global internet service environment.

• A good understanding of web technologies ranging from Java, TomCat, JavaScript, JQuery, XML, HTML, CSS, LESS, Eclipse/Intellij, Spring MVC, POJO, JUnit.

• A high degree of creativity and innovation is expected, with proven ability to derive pragmatic solutions addressing complex business and operating requirements.

• Solid experience in customer centric web application development with a passion for customer usability, simplicity, and performance.

• Excellent problem solving skills and technical acumen in design and operations of high scale internet services.

• A bias for rapid development, platform reusability, maintainability, and supportability.

• Solid experience with the full development lifecycle from concept through delivery and 24x7 operations.

• Solid oral/written communication skills with proven ability to work closely with both business and technology stakeholders to make trade-offs between cost, schedule, product feature set.

• Good interpersonal skills with proven ability to work amidst a fast paced environment with diverse teams working from many locations.

• Ideal candidate will have experience in Rapid Application development methodologies – Agile, Scrum, Test Driven Development, etc.

• Experience in the Internet Ecommerce and/or Online Travel industry ideal, but not required.

• Java server development environment, preferred.

• A BS degree in a Computer Science or related engineering discipline, strongly preferred.

What you will learn:

• Learn object oriented design with a bias for rapid development, platform reusability, maintainability, and supportability.

• Gain a strong understanding of operations of high scale internet services.

• Learn developing globalized applications supporting many browsers, devices, locales, customer roles, etc.

• Learn domain-driven design and the benefits of moving to this design pattern.

• Gain experience in building high performance applications for high transaction, distributed applications supporting operational monitoring, load balancing, real time debugging, multi-threading, async communications, etc.

Required Skills:

• Design, develop, debug, and modifies components of software applications and tools.

• Drive technical direction at the application/product level for small to mid-sized projects.

• Design, spec, schedule and provide quality implementation of a component or feature (typically 1-3 months in duration).

• Provide alternative solutions to a given problem. Resolve problems and roadblocks, with management assistance if required.

• Follow through on details and drive issues to closure. Complete documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance.

• Actively participate in group technology reviews to critique work of self and others.

• Work collaboratively with all members of technical staff. Collaborate with program management and testing peers in the development of assigned components.

• Participates in and provides input to requirements definition. Usually provides solid judgment calls and tradeoff analysis.
