part-time Senior level Controllers for early-stage life science
companies, including venture backed, near public, and publicly
traded entities. Typically, consultants balance the demands of a
few clients at a time, with the combined hours equating to a
full-time position. The job affords a high degree of flexibility
with respect to the hours worked and the ability to work virtually.
This is an excellent opportunity to work with high growth, dynamic
players in the pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device and health
IT sectors. Controllers often are responsible for implementing and
establishing systems, reporting infrastructure from scratch, and
working as an integrated member of the client's management team. As
a Danforth Manager, you will have access to the resources of the
entire Danforth organization and may work either independently with
the client or with a team of other Danforth professionals on
engagements.Potential ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities for this
role include but may not be limited to: Maintain accounting system
Regular bookkeeping and accounting activities - monthly close,
monthly reporting, and general financial administration Establish
and perform procedures for setting up new vendors (contracts, W-9s)
and paying monthly invoices; manage payables and cash disbursements
Reconcile cash accounts, track cash usage and prepare cash flow
projections Establish reporting template and perform monthly,
quarterly and annual reporting (internal and external)
Establish/maintain internal controls Work with the Company
management team to prepare operating plans and budgets Input of
budget in QuickBooks for variance analysis Manage insurance and
banking relationships and service levels Monthly payroll/benefits
administration Update and manage the Company's cap table Provide
support for fundraising initiatives Assist with tax returns, as
appropriate Contribute to external reporting process including
quarterly report on form 10-Q and annual report on form 10-K filed
with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Assists in other
filings that may arise Research certain technical accounting
matters, and prepare recommendations with respect to accounting
treatment and the related journal entries Assist with preparing for
and managing financial statement audits Assist with preparing a
company for a financing or transformative transaction IPO
preparedness Acquisition assistance/management Corporate wind-downs
Stock compensation calculations or system maintenance Requirements
Bachelor's degree in business, Accounting, Economics, Management or
similar is required, MBA and/or CPA is a plus 15 years experience
in accounting and finance experience (Big 4/CPA Firm experience a
plus) Minimum 5 years experience in Life Science industry or
similar Prior public accounting experience including SEC reporting
experience, 10Q and 10K filing experience, etc. Computer Skills:
QuickBooks and Excel a must; Intacct, NetSuite, Great Plains,
Equity Edge a plus Grant accounting experience a plus Knowledge of
GAAP a plus Knowledge of IFRS a plus Demonstrated ability to work
in early startup and growth stage companies Experience working as a
consultant, or a sincere interest and commitment to consulting
Experience in IPO preparation, SOX, SEC compliance Forecasting,
budgeting, and tax compliance experience is a must Implementation
of financial systems and ability to bring efficiencies Ability to
create cost modeling FP experience a plus Support rounds of
fundraising Strong analytical problem solving skills Strong
interpersonal and client relationship skills Ability to communicate
proactive solutions to identified opportunities for improvement or
