Job Description

Director, Benefit Risk is responsible for setting the strategy and driving the operational goals for the service line. The Director acts as a strategic business partner towards key accounts. The Director's primary focus is on the BR group both from the customer as well as from the employee experience. The Director is a contributing member of the PV Leadership Team and the Global Management Committee.

Developing and managing BR policy

  • Contributes to the formation of a long-term vision as well as formulates strategic targets and drives operational goals for the BR team
  • Contributes to the PV sales goals by participation or oversight of proposal process regarding BR activities and maintaining industry awareness of BR task requirements and trends
  • Takes part in internal and external forms of consultation, disseminates the vision, objectives, and philosophy of the organisation and functions as an authority on the department's area of expertise
  • Regularly informs Executive Management regarding issues, progress, and developments within the BR group
    Meeting financial targets
    • Participates in developing and managing the BR group's budget, is responsible for creation of the annual commercial plan for this purpose, and coordinates the implementation of the commercial year plans
    • Regularly evaluates the financial results of the BR team and adjusts the commercial plan if necessary
      Directing the department
      • Oversees the BR group resourcing needs including evaluating future needs, participation in the recruitment process, and interviewing candidates for potential hire
      • Coaches and guides colleagues, acting as a role model, and providing real time feedback to foster growth in employees
      • Manage direct reports including 1:1 meetings, performance reviews, frequent coaching, and redirection activities as needed
      • Oversees the cohesion between various activities within the BR group and overall PV business to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and quality
      • Identifies problems, risks, and bottlenecks in work processes and drives change to resolution while mitigating client, regulatory, and company risks
        Performing relations management
        • Conducts negotiations for complex and sensitive projects with at large clients or commercial partners and manages as such within the BR group
        • Identifies changes needed to improve client satisfaction, provides oversight of quality and compliance, and maintains or provides oversight for governance relationships with clients
        • Responsible for the transition of department activities following company acquisitions
        • If necessary, directly oversees the activities as listed:
        • Completion of complex reports such as Risk Management Plans, Periodic Safety Update Reports, Clinical Overviews, or Clinical Expert Statements
        • Coordinate literature screening process and review
        • Development and improvement of the processes and systems (eg. development of Company Core Data Sheet process) and training of team members on these tasks
        • Acts as Client Manager for clients, as needed
          • Strategic mindset and ability to translate organizational goals into team's objectives
          • Strong verbal and written skills; excellent workload prioritization skills
          • Experience working in an international and intercompany context
          • Local language and local legislative knowledge needed
          • Knowledge of the products and services contracted, as well as the products and service portfolios of competitors
          • Knowledge and understanding of developments in various disciplines in Pharmaceutical Consultancy
          • Knowledge and understanding of all social, political, financial, economic, and technical affairs that are strategically relevant to the organisation
          • Knowledge of relevant markets and key market players with an optional need to possess a strong network of contacts in this area
          • Strong management experience including people development, communication skills, and mentoring skills; capable of resolving conflict in a constructive manner
          • Flexible and proactive toward changing needs
          • Proficiency in MS Office, Salesforce and Finance Tools
          • Must be willing to travel > 25%
          • Minimum BSc level; MSc/PhD preferred
          • Experience in commercial negotiations and strategy development
          • Proven management and people skills including leading a group of professionals
          • Strong experience in client management
          • Cross cultural understanding and working across different countries
          • Proven experience in the specific area
          • Proven experience as senior business partner
          • Minimum one year at current position
          • Positive rating on Performance Appraisal by supervisor or manager
          • Proficiency in the established requirements for the next upward position and successfully starting to work within that role
          • Business need for a resource in the next upward role
