Assistant Dean for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Justice FLSA

live and work at Seattle University. Position Description PURPOSE
The Assistant Dean for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Justice
(DEIJ) in the College of Arts & Sciences is a staff leadership
position sharing responsibility for the development,
implementation, and ongoing work of the CAS Strategic Plan Key
Initiatives 2022-26, with emphasis on helping develop and sustain
the Inclusive Academic Excellence components of those initiatives.
The first four years of the position will involve serving as a
Co-Director of the Strategic Action Committee for Inclusive
Academic Excellence (SACIAE) along with two faculty members,
jointly overseeing and leading implementation of the plan. The
Assistant Dean for DEIJ and the Faculty Co-Directors will serve as
the chief liaisons between the School and the SU Vice President for
Diversity and Inclusion ensuring alignment with university DEI
philosophy, direction, and initiatives such as LIFT SU and Seattle
University's Reigniting Our Strategic Directions 2022- 2027
including Goal 4 - Promote Inclusive Excellence. ESSENTIAL JOB
FUNCTIONS: --- Co-Lead implementation of the 23 CAS Strategic Plan
Key Initiatives from the CAS Strategic Plan with the Faculty
Co-Directors, from Fall 2022 through Spring 2026. --- Co-Lead
infusion of Inclusive Academic Excellence as noted in Goal 4 of the
University Strategic Directions and incorporation of the Inclusive
Academic Excellence theme into all strategic initiatives of CAS,
with special emphasis on staff-related initiatives. --- Co-Lead the
Strategic Action Committee for Inclusive Academic Excellence
(SACIAE) with the Faculty Co-Chairs. --- Share liaison role between
CAS and the University Office of Diversity and Inclusion with SAC
Co-Director representing CAS at the University level. --- Work with
the SACIAE and other established and ad hoc University and College
shared governance bodies/committees/workgroups/task forces to
execute committee initiatives. --- Co-Lead the SACIAE in monitoring
progress and recommending changes to the Dean and shared governance
bodies to improve progress or change approach. --- Continue as a
lead administrator in maintaining progress in Inclusive Academic
Excellence beyond the end of the CAS 2020-26 Strategic Plan and the
Strategic Actions prioritized from that plan, supporting the CAS
Key Initiatives and the University Strategic Directions. MARGINAL
JOB FUNCTIONS: --- Other duties as assigned Qualifications Master's
degree or Bachelor's degree with significant professional or
volunteer life experience in addressing DEIJ issues; proven Equity
and Inclusion interest as demonstrated by leadership roles and/or
community work; proven Equity and Inclusion expertise or deep
demonstrated interest and engagement with a willingness to develop
expertise through ongoing training while serving in the position.
