Assistant National Director, Up2Us Coach
Founded in 2010, Up2Us Sports is a national nonprofit organization that is focused on the power of coaches to transform the lives of our nation's most vulnerable youth, and the communities they live in, through sports. ABOUT THE ROLE
The Assistant National Director, Up2Us Coach, will serve as the national leader for Up2Us Sports' coach program. TheAssistant National Director is responsible for implementing and monitoring a 3-year strategicplan whileoverseeing program operations,programfidelity, and managing a national program team. This position may be based out of New Orleans, Seattle, or New Yorkand work closely with the Senior National Director, AmeriCorps Programs, to achieve key program deliverables and enhanceprogram impact.

        KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITES
        Program Leadership and Strategy

        • Collaborate with Chief Strategy Officer and Senior National Director, AmeriCorps Programs to create and implement a strategic plan for growing Up2Us Sports coaching in new and existing markets.
        • Participate in developing strategic partnerships with youth serving organizations, parks departments, school districts, and sports teams.
        • Develop project plans and high-level strategy to align the AmeriCorps Coach Program with the requirements of national service.
        • Supervise national program staff, including Program Directors and their programmatic targets.
        • Collaborate with the National Director, Research and Evaluation (R&E) to track and monitor program performance, prepare for program audits, technical site visits, and complete grant reports.
        • Monitor structure of Up2Us Coach program as it relates to the needs of coaches and their local programs.
        • Coordinate with Regional Staff and Operations Departments to ensure high- quality performance of all Up2Us Coach systems including payroll, coach timesheets, reflection logs, and contracts.
        • Create and maintain Coach Program policy and job descriptions in compliance with AmeriCorps and other government agencies.
        • Coordinate with the Operations Department to streamline, standardize, and formalize processes and procedures for the Coach Program.
        • Coordinate bi-monthly program calls with Coach Team to troubleshoot issues and communicate relevant program information.
        • Coordinate with the Operations Team to collaborate on program systems, policies and procedures including: on-boarding, exiting, compliance monitoring, reporting, payroll, and gear.

          AmeriCorps Grants Management

          • Liaise with AmeriCorps Direct program officers and other Federal Government Program Officers, as necessary.
          • Ensure Regional Directors manage program staff in accordance with all Federal and State Grant guidelines.
          • Lead all AmeriCorps grant application and renewal
          • Lead all AmeriCorps report

            Technical Support

            • Advise on opportunities to ensure new initiatives align with Up2Us
            • Coordinate with the National Director, Training to ensure proper training of all staff and coaches.
            • Provide programmatic technical support on grants (private and federal).
            • Employ internal evidence and external literature to inform further improvements to program design and service delivery.

              Staff Support

              • Recruit, interview, and select staff with appropriate skills and personal abilities (when required).
              • Ensure that all staff members receive an orientation to the organization and that appropriate training is provided.
              • Implement the performance management process for all staff, including conducting annual performance review.
              • Coach and mentor staff as appropriate to improve performance and professional
              • Report and communicate to the Senior National Director about staff discipline when necessary using appropriate techniques.
              • Work with Up2Us Sports Marketing team on implementing national campaigns for brand awareness and fundraising and develop local outreach materials.
              • Cultivate local sports ambassadors for the Up2Us Sports Ambassador Board

                QUALIFICATIONS

                • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a nonprofit or similar (academic or government) management position
                • Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferred
                • A strong understanding of both theory and practice of sports-based youth development
                • Significant experience in managing a highly qualified team of professionals
                • Significant experience in working with underserved children and youth in sports programs in diverse communities
                • Significant experience in collaborating among various stakeholders
                • Ability to liaise among staff, coach force, local organizations, and funders
                • Ability to multitask efficiently and manage programs at multiple remote locations
                • Superior interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
                • Computer literacy and well developed technology skills

                  COMPENSATION

                  • Salary Range: $67,000 to $72,000
