-STAFF ACCOUNTANTSeattle Opera is accepting applications for the
position of Staff Accountant. - This full-time, nonexempt position
reports to the CFO and supports the Controller. FLSA STATUS:
Full-time, non-exempt, salaried position.SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
-Reports to the CFOSUMMARY -The Finance Department at Seattle Opera
has a culture that prizes professionalism, productivity, teamwork,
and advancement with the ultimate goal of supporting the artists
that produce and perform opera. Each individual in the Finance
Department has a high level of autonomy although is quick to assist
a colleague in need. - We believe we utilize state-of-the-art
processes and technologies that allows us to largely work remotely
and process significant volumes of work in a highly efficient
manner. Our goal is to provide seamless and consistent support to
our colleagues in other departments. -The Staff Accountant has the
following main areas of responsibility: -
- processing accounts payable (AP) and credit card
transactions,
- posting and reconciling revenue,
- other duties as assigned including general ledger monitoring
and maintenance. - -PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Accounts payable includingSet up new
vendor records.Code, enter and file purchase orders and vendor
invoices.Reconcile credit card purchases.Prepare, print, mail AP
checks and vendor EFT payments.Ensure computerized AP system and
vendor files are maintained including W9s and EFT setup.Accounts
receivableReconcile revenue transactions including credit
cards.Process AR transactionsPrepare journal entries for review and
reconcile GL accounts.
- Perform financial analysis for both operations and special
projects.
- Assist with grant and financial survey budget preparation and
review.
- Assist with internal and annual audits, including
reconciliations, adjustments, closing entries and schedule
preparation.Maintain insurance information for annual policy
renewals and request certificates of insurance as needed.
- Prepare federal, state, and other tax and regulatory
filings.Other special projects of duties as assigned. -PREFERRED

Detail-oriented with an appropriate
balance of accuracy and productivity.An ability to handle
confidential information.Must work independently and manage
deadlines - especially in a remote work environment.Strong
interpersonal and communication skills -including ability to work
effectively with staff in all departments with a -customer service
focus.Accuracy -in all aspects of workWillingness to ask questions

2-4 years operational accounting
experienceBachelor's Degree in accounting or equivalent/relevant
experienceExpertise and comfort with a variety of software
applications, including Excel and Outlook with an ability to easily
pick up new technologies. -SPECIAL REQUIREMENTSWA State Resident:
Successful candidate will be a resident of WA State. - This
position will allow remote work up to 75% of the time with
approximately 25% of the time spent in the office.Background Check:
Seattle Opera engages a third-party vendor to conduct background
