The Accountant II position is an integral part of The Hutch Accounting team, which has a wide range of responsibilities relating to all aspects The Hutch's finances including financial reporting, month-end close, policy setting, internal and data controls and transaction processing for a $2B international organization. This position performs accounting functions that require intermediate accounting knowledge and analytical skills as well as transaction processing. Levering available technology, including financial applications, is an integral aspect of this position. This position reports directly to the Assistant Controller.
Responsibilities


  • Record monthly Fixed Asset Accounting transactions. Includes monitoring capital purchases, reviewing depreciation for accuracy, processing retirements and reconciling expenditures and Physical Inventory items to financial records.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries and conduct account reconciliations in assigned areas of responsibilities.
  • Work closely with internal departments in supporting the capital procurement process.
  • Document and update procedures and guidelines for assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Assist with monthly State and City tax filings of the organization.
  • Review General Ledger and other subsystems for data quality.
  • Function as back-up in several areas including initiating electronic payments, tax reporting and study participant payments.
  • Prepare audit and tax schedules
  • Assist with testing system enhancements, upgrades and reports
  • Participate in process improvement projects including reviewing processes and suggesting changes for improved efficiencies and controls
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent work experience required.
    • Minimum of six years bookkeeping, budget, tax or related financial experience.
    • Experience with non-profit, research and/or multi-unit business models preferred.
    • Knowledge of federal, state, and other related regulations and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
    • Strong technology skills including efficiency with keyboard and mouse as well as experience with desktop applications including MS Excel, MS Word and MS Outlook.
    • Must be willing to develop expertise in FMS PeopleSoft and software tools.

      • Must have excellent work habits, including a willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done, especially around important deadlines
      • Strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal, and desire to work in team-oriented environments
      • Requires strong organization skills as this job involves multi-taking in a fast-paced environment

        The hourly pay range for this position is from $29.42 to $44.11 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.------
