Job Description:
Schedule, coordinate, and perform vessel repair & maintenance,
coordinate purchasing of parts and repair services and supplies,
schedule routine maintenance requirements for tugs and barges.
Perform inspections of vessels for repair & maintenance standards
and procedures. Keep Tugs and Barges in compliance with all
regulatory agencies. Keep accurate records of all maintenance
performed using company software program. Manage OTB Port
Engineers, Barge Superintendent, and shop maintenance personnel.
Manage vessel engineer and qualification process.
Schedule, coordinate, and perform flow of work based on customer
orders, establish priorities and availability of personnel,
equipment, and resources.
Keep records of maintenance performed, hours used, fuel burned.
Working closely with operations and dispatch, schedule routine
maintenance of tugs and barges.
Manage oil analysis program.
Coordinate the purchasing of parts and services for repair and
maintenance projects.
Perform inspections of vessels for repair & maintenance standards,
regulatory compliance, and customer SIRE program.
Compile and prioritize worklists for each vessel for both routine
and major maintenance (drydock periods).
Provide input to, plan, and execute annual CapEx budget.
Track actual costs of repair and projects against budget.
Perform emergency repairs on vessels as required.
Perform related duties as assigned.
Perform in the company Spill Management team as assigned.
Two (2) years of experience on tugs, tankers or oil barges or
equivalent military experience.
Five (5) years of increasingly responsible port engineering
experience in the maritime industry.
Four year college education in Maritime field, related studies, or
equivalent experience.
Experience with tug and barge maintenance systems and
equipment.
Minimum of two years experience in a supervisory position.
S. Coast Guard Engineering License preferred.
Knowledge of oil transportation industry preferred
Ability to repair marine equipment on site under adverse
conditions.
Ability to work with office personnel and crew members using
courtesy, tact, and good judgment.
Maintain the confidentiality of all sensitive communications.
Ability to understand and execute complex oral and written
instructions in English.
Ability to work independently with minimal or no guidance.
Must be physically fit enough to board barges and tugs at sea and
in port.
HAZWOPER (including Incident Command System) training within 90
days of being hired.
Valid TWIC or ability to obtain.
First Aid/CPR training.
Valid State driver license.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.)
Position requires frequent travel to Canadian territories.
Capable of making decisions and giving directions to facilitate
prompt service delivery.
Required to work aboard boats and barges using pike poles, heavy
lines, winches, mechanical tools for repairs.
Frequently required to board tugs, barges, and ships, at dock or at
anchor in all weather conditions and at all hours.
Normal office hours are 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through
Friday.
Takes communications 24 hours a day, including weekends, concerning
vessel maintenance, repair, and operations.
Travel approximately 10%, usually no more than 2 weeks at a
time.
