Position Description The mission of the Seattle Office of Arts & Culture (ARTS) is to foster a city driven by creativity that provides the opportunity for everyone to engage in diverse arts and cultural experiences. As part of this mission, ARTS manages the City's public art program, cultural partnerships grant programs, the Langston Hughes Performing Arts Institute, and Creative Youth Programs, which includes The Creative Advantage Initiative. The Creative Advantage is a citywide initiative to establish equitable access to arts education for each and every student in Seattle Public Schools (SPS), which is made possible through a public-private partnership with the district, the City of Seattle Office of Arts & Culture, the Seattle Foundation, and community arts organizations. We are looking for a Creative Youth Project Manager who will work within the office's Creative Youth Programs team to help ensure the success of the community arts education programs. In this role, you will project manage key areas of the Creative Advantage related to community and school arts partnerships with teaching artists and arts organizations, arts partner professional development, communications and outreach, and evaluation, and support intra-departmental projects that meet the mission of Creative Youth Programs. In addition, you will facilitate the Community Arts Partner roster application and revision process, as well as implement programming that supports the City's creative and inclusive workforce development strategy. Job Responsibilities Here is more about what you'll be working on: Community Arts Partner Roster and School Arts Partnerships: Facilitating the process of selecting teaching artists, community arts organizations and cultural institutions to the Community Arts Partner Roster Providing technical assistance to applicants and lead application workshops Acting as liaison to the community concerning panel process Preparing correspondence to all applicants Providing planning support to schools and arts partners engaged in Creative Advantage partnerships Creative Workforce Development Funding Project: Co-designing and implementing creative workforce development funding pilot for community arts organizations providing career connected learning opportunities for young people Community Arts Partner Convenings and Workshops: Plan and facilitate community arts partner orientation and check-in meetings Support school sustainability planning Collaborate with Seattle Arts Museum to plan and implement arts partner professional development annual series and institute Communications and Community Outreach: Generate content for monthly e-newsletter and social media communications focused on arts education, and update content for web site as needed Develop general and targeted community outreach plan, including workshops and presentations for schools and arts organizations on The Creative Advantage and other youth opportunities Represent the department within City government and to the community, cultivating awareness of our programs, making new contacts, responding to inquiries, and developing strategic partnerships Reporting and Administration: Track data on community arts partners, school arts partnerships, and professional development workshops for the annual evaluation report Write and administer contracts as needed You will be successful in this role if you have experience : Public speaking Working with young people, especially youth from culturally diverse backgrounds Fostering creativity and problem solving while remaining flexible Handling controversial/sensitive issues and maintaining confidentiality Acting as a resource and facilitating involvement for community organizations, teaching artists, schools, and other members of the public Working with computers and software applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel Qualifications In addition to the ability to perform the responsibilities described above, you will need to possess the below required qualifications (or a combination of education, training or experience which provides an equivalent background required to perform the work of the class): Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts or a related field Two years professional experience in project management, including experience with arts organizations; public speaking, or a related field OR Associate Degree in Fine Arts or a related field Three years professional experience in project management, including experience with arts organizations; public speaking, or a related field OR Four years professional experience in project management, including experience with arts organizations; public speaking, or a related field As well as the ability to pass the following: Criminal background check DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: You will be prepared to take on this role if you have : Strong project development and coordination skills An understanding and commitment to racial equity Knowledge of inequities in public education, and their root causes Knowledge of teaching artistry, and the role teaching artists play in education and youth development The ability to perform a wide variety of tasks and re-order your priorities while working both independently and on a team Demonstrated skills in collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information, both verbally and in writing A willingness to make difficult and challenging decisions Additional Information This position is classified as an Arts Program Specialist. Work is performed in an office environment. This position will require the ability to work a flexible schedule, as attending community meetings in the evenings or weekends may be required.
