This role at a glance: NBBJ Seattle is seeking a full time, in-house Senior Environmental Graphic/Experience Designer to join our Experience Design Studio. We are looking for a passionate and creative designer with exceptional skills to join our dynamic team - someone who is thoughtful, highly creative, and thorough in their design process. This individual will work cross-functionally within the studio team and collaborate with design teams across our corporate, commercial, civic, healthcare, and sports practices within NBBJ worldwide. Why this role is important to NBBJ: As a Senior Environmental Graphic/Experience Designer, you will lead design teams, collaborate with Architects and designers from many disciplines, and tap into your creativity to make our client---s brands, business goals, vision and values come to life in the built environment. You are adept at developing creative, design concepts to evoke emotion, add clarity, and create unique experiences for end users. You have experience in, and a keen interest in the business of design, and have a desire to shape the trajectory of our design studio, working among studio and firm leadership to keep the studio relevant into the future, maintain a the highest design quality, seamlessly service our clients, and increase studio profitability. You are a collaborator, ready to join a team of thinkers and doers who help craft the brand, story, and experience for our clients. You have technical skills, fabrication and architectural knowledge, and understand how to deliver large-scale, multi-faceted EGD/XD projects. You would be responsible for leading design for projects, coordinating with architectural project teams, presenting to clients, orchestrating studio teams, and delivering designs you create. In your new role, you will: Work with a multi-disciplinary team of architects and interior designers to design experiential, branded environments, signage, and wayfinding solutions that connect people to their environment and to our client---s brands. Present to, and collaborate with clients and design teams across multiple building and market types---constantly building rapport with clients. Bring your leadership experience to collaborate with studio leaders in shaping the future of this viable, profitable design business Guide, and collaborate with design teams to create experiences by integrating messaging, color, imagery, type, and digital media with built environments. Understand graphic, signage and architectural materials and construction techniques, as well as electronic display media. Develop innovative wayfinding strategies and methodologies for increasing navigational clarity for end users Be responsible for the delivery of high quality projects, collaborating with builders and fabricators. Deliver EGD and XD selling strategies to align with market conditions, prepare proposals and give presentations. Be accountable to team, budget, and schedule, while upholding the highest design. What you will Need to Succeed: Bachelor---s degree in graphic design, industrial design, environmental design, architecture, visual communication, or related field. 7-10 years professional experience in environmental graphic design, exhibit design, or similar studio experience. Experience in studio leadership, operations and design management Experience with planning, documentation, and management of environmental graphic, wayfinding, and signage projects in the context of the built environment. Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop) and MS Office. Keen knowledge of architectural construction documentation. Deep understanding of how to integrate with architectural materials and building systems. Proficiency in SketchUp, Revit, Rhino and/or other 3D modeling programs is highly desired.
