The Associated Recreation Council, in partnership with Seattle Parks and Recreation, is recruiting for a Summer Activity Clay Camp Instructor. The Clay Camp Instructor will be responsible for planning and leading pottery camps for youth 6-12 years old. The clay instructor will teach participants various pottery techniques including wedging, hand-building, pottery wheeling, glazing, and firing. Previous experience creating curriculum and planning clay lesson plans is preferred.
Location: Magnolia Community Center
Camp Schedule:
Monday - Friday; 9:00am - noon
Work Weeks in Program:

  • July 3rd-7th
    July 24th-28th
    July 31st-Aug 4th
    Aug 7th-11th
    Aug 14th-18th
    Aug 21st-25th Pay range: $20 - $23 Hourly
    Basic duties:
    • Develop imaginative activities that facilitate and encourage creativity.
    • Maintain positive relationships with families, staff, and the general public.
    • Prepare a weekly calendar of activities.
    • Complete required administrative reports, such as attendance and activity logs, accident/incident reports, hot sheets, and evaluations.
    • Load and unload kiln. Fire projects in a timely fashion.
    • Ensure that all equipment and materials are stored properly each day.
    • Communicate efficiently with supporting staff. Requirements:
      • Over 18 years of age
      • Experience teaching clay classes to youth
      • Experience build lesson plans, lead and managing a classroom of participants
      • If hired, must have First Aid/CPR certification, or willingness to attain
      • If hired, must pass criminal background check
      • If hired, must provide proof of eligibility to work in the US and valid photo ID
