Job Summary: The Engineer-- III,-- Hardware Product Owner will join the Development Engineering team at-- Nanostring , working on new instrument products and improving existing instrument products. This role will support the hardware team working in a lean-Agile methodology as a Product Owner for the team working on instrument automation/scripting, hardware sub-system prototyping and testing, and reliability testing. The work is highly interdisciplinary and will involve working closely with product management, project management, --systems engineers, biologists, software engineers, and hardware engineers across a variety of engineering disciplines including fluidics, optics, automation, mechanical and electrical. A key to success in this position will be a big picture view enabling one to connect the business needs to the detailed work breakdown structure as well as an ability to organize and plan technical work for on-time delivery.

  • Collaborate with HW designers and automation developers to effectively manage the work breakdown structure
  • Take lead on-- refining --the sub-system hardware requirements and ensuring clear traceability of specifications to product requirements
  • Work closely with Scrum Master, Functional Managers,-- and-- Product Management to-- accomplish product goals and timelines ; ensur ing --the highest value is delivered from the hardware team
  • Contribute hardware development experience to help guide and advise the technical team in best approaches for engineering development
  • Help track, triage,-- prioritize,-- and communicate issues identified during development, verification, and field surveillance reporting back to the development team
  • Responsible for the sub-system level requirements and lead the development of sub-system requirements, interface documents, specifications, verification, and other product development documentation
  • Identify and characterize appropriate-- key tasks and work item opportunities --to achieve high reliability, robustness, and functional performance
  • Coordinate hardware and software integration by working with technical teams on workflows, interface definition, integration testing, requirements analysis, test design, and risk analysis
  • Interface with the software team and automation developers on instrument workflow definition, requirements, and verification
  • Participate in creation of product requirements, specifications, verification documentation, and other product development documentation
  • Summarize and present team plans to the business and-- cross functionally --with other-- teams Requirements:--
    • 4+ years experience working within a lean-Agile and regulated environment
    • B.S. in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, bioengineering, physics, software or related field
    • A proactive personality with a willingness and desire to identify work scope and drive projects to completion--
    • Experience with SCRUM, Agile, or-- SAFe --Agile-- methodologies
    • Experience implementing Agile methodologies for-- hardware and operating as a Product Owner
    • General familiarity with engineering principles in the following areas; software, instrument control and automation, optics and imaging, motion control, and electromechanical systems
    • Demonstrated ability in authoring formal design and/or test documentation
    • Strong understanding of the product development process with experience in hardware/instrumentation development Preferred Qualifications:
