For Victorian based employees, the compliance date is 26 November 2021.All other global Boeing locations do not have a vaccination requirement at this time.Boeing Additive Manufacturing (BAM) is seeking an Experienced Equipment and Tooling Engineer to join our team in Auburn, WA.Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop and adapting additive manufacturing techniques for aerospace tooling applications
  • Working with stakeholders across the enterprise to identify opportunities to improve tooling for commercial airplanes, space & defense, or ground support applications via Additive Manufacturing (AM) methods-
  • Lead projects to pursue these opportunities
  • Lead demonstrator projects to design, build and test additively manufactured tools to solve production problems throughout Boeing and establish a knowledge base of AM applications for tooling
  • Develop and perform mechanical and environmental testing to establish suitability of AM materials and fabrication methods for specific tool types in either production or development tooling applications
  • Increase organizational knowledge of state of the art AM methods, working with internal and external research and development organizations
  • Production-harden AM tooling design and fabrication processes
  • Establish and document controls for repeatability in the manufacturing process
  • Train operators and monitor compliance
  • Demonstrates excellent verbal communication and presentation skills and writing of released process documentsThis position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. (2-3 day on-site average)The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a -US Person- as defined by 22 C.F.R. - 120.15 is required. -US Person- includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
    • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
    • Experience with testing, writing test plans, conducting tests, and writing test reports
    • Experience with welding and/or metallurgical specifications
    • Experience with material processing for metals (e.g., welding, heat treat, cold spray)
    • Experience with polymers (e.g., extrusion, 3D printing, injection molding) and composites (e.g., autoclave curing, lay-up, co-curing, repair)
    • Additive manufacturing experiencePreferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
      • Project management experience
      • Degree in engineering, material science and engineering, polymer science, or other related discipline
      • Experience designing for additive manufacturing
      • Experience establishing standard process requirements and instructions through application of industry standard test methods, modification of existing test methods or development of new methods
      • Experience with additive metal fabrication and processing methods such as wire feed welding or directed energy deposition
      • Experience presenting to senior management
      • Experience with stress analysisTypical Education/Experience:-Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience).
