spaceflight!Lunar Transportation: This role is part of the Lunar
Transportation business unit, which develops Blue Origin's multiple
Blue Moon lander product lines. To further Blue Origin's mission of
having millions of people living and working in space, we are
building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and
cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.As a Senior Vision-Based
Navigation Engineer on Lunar Permanence, you will lead the
development of autonomous on-board navigation software for our
crewed and uncrewed lunar vehicles. The products developed provide
Lunar Permanence lander vehicles with software to enable
unprecedented crew and mass to surface capabilities.You will
directly impact the history of space exploration and will require
your dedication and attention towards safe and reliable
spaceflight. You will work directly with NASA and our National Team
Partners as part of the Human Landing System (HLS) Sustaining Lunar
Development (SLD) program. You will play a key role in developing
the Lunar Permanence system that will return humans to the Moon and
extend human presence permanently beyond the bounds of Earth.We are

required!Responsibilities
- Own the processor and vehicle architecture design decisions
across multiple phases of flight and vehicle programs
- Lead the development and guide the implementation of efficient
algorithms and models for autonomous perception, localization and
mapping, and software control to support vehicle navigation
- Guide the implementation and test of embedded navigation
software, including sensor interfaces and telemetry management,
using C/C++ and MATLAB/Simulink
- Own and lead the verification of vision-based algorithm
implementations through open-loop and closed-loop Monte Carlo
analysis as well as via unit testing
- Lead in the development and deployment of embedded software,
including optical sensor I/O
- Lead in the implementation of the processor-in-the-loop,
software-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop testing, on-vehicle
functional testing, and flight testing
- Collaborate on the development and execution of component-level
vision-based navigation test programs, including sensor
characterization, sensor modeling, and integrated on-vehicle
testingMinimum Qualifications
- B.S. or M.S. or equivalent in computer science, aerospace
engineering, or related technical field with 10+ years of proven
experience
- Strong software design and development skills with emphasis in
C++ and Simulink/MATLAB. Including skills in debugging and
performance optimization
- Experience with the integration of data from various optical
sensors
- Expert proficiency with sensor fusion techniques and the
implementation of embedded perception or computer vision algorithms
for navigation
- Experience with build systems, version control, and testing
methodologies
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional
relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident
(current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as
a refugee or granted asylumPreferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. or equivalent in computer science, aerospace engineering,
or related technical field with 7+ years of proven experience
- Significant experience in vision-based navigation, with image
processing, and feature detection and tracking techniques
- Significant experience in the synthesis of state estimation
algorithms and Kalman filters for spacecraft navigation
- Significant experience with offline or embedded, real-time
camera calibration algorithms
- Demonstrated experience with hardware and software integration
and testing, including experience with sensor device drivers and
I/O
- Experience in verification and test of embedded software and
systemsCompensation Range for:CO applicants is
$153,636.00-$215,090.40;WA applicants is
