Job Summary: Environmental Compliance Specialist
Support environmental regulatory compliance and sustainability
performance programs through data analysis, program development,
and execution.
About the Role
Honda is seeking an Environmental Compliance Specialist to join our
team. As a key member of our environmental team, you will be
responsible for supporting environmental regulatory compliance and
sustainability performance programs through data analysis, program
development, and execution.
Responsibilities
- Lead environmental communication and collaboration for
awareness of status, benchmarking, critical issue escalation, and
promotion of environmental programs.
- Develop and implement environmental processes to comply with
regulations and Honda standards.
- Develop, manage, and implement environmental business plan
themes and projects, track, and report performance
metrics.
- Develop energy, water, and waste targets, analyze data and
trends for gaps, report on results, and implement
countermeasures.
- Draft and implement environmental procedures and methods to
meet government regulations and company standards.
- Act as liaison between departments and teams for environmental
projects and change points.
- Create and perform environmental training content and
assign/tracking department and plant training
requirements.
- Support the development and deployment of data management
systems to efficiently track and manage environmental
compliance/performance.
- Coordinate assigned contractor SOWs to support environmental
strategies/requirements and ensure ongoing contractor
performance.
- Perform and document environmental compliance activities per
plant and department procedures.
- Conduct performance inspections to identify gaps and
opportunities for improvements in the environmental
program.
- Coordinate and implement timely department countermeasures
addressing environmental audit and compliance gaps.
- Develop capability of self, colleagues, and team through
training, mentoring, and sharing of experiences.
- Implement innovative solutions to drive improvements and be
recognized as a leader in environmental sustainability.
Requirements
- 0-4 years of environmental experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or
science-related degree or equivalent related experience.
- Experience using Microsoft Office products.
- Effective communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to manage and lead projects.
- Ability to work well in a collaborative environment.
- Effective planning and prioritization skills.
- Reliable and flexible.
- Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively with contractors and production
associates.
- General knowledge of environmental compliance
requirements.
- Some understanding of business plan, budgeting, and cost
reporting.
- Ability to support root cause analysis and implement
countermeasures.
Additional Position Factors
- Ability to work overtime (-0-4 hrs/week).
- Ability to work in an office and plant environment.
- Willingness to work appropriate weekends/shutdowns to manage
projects and cover environmental needs.
- Minimal travel requirements (possible 1 trip/year).
