Be sure to explore our -Interviewing Guide -to learn how to ace our interview process.About the RoleThe Network Engineering team builds and operates a large global backbone network connecting over 70 points of presence (PoPs) and back-end data centers. You will work with other networking and software teams throughout the Video Platform organization to ensure Twitch service quality remains as high as possible. You will manage network architecture and design to support broadcaster and video replication traffic on the backbone and help deliver video traffic to end-users.As video traffic and service usage grows, the network and server infrastructure must scale to support that growth. You will play a big role in that scaling, and the implementation of network and video system features to support a high-traffic multi-tenant environment. If the idea of operating and automating a large-scale network with a high volume of traffic interests you, this could be the role for you! You will report to the Manager, Network Engineering.You will work from Seattle, WA.You Will:Design backbone, datacenter, and POP network architecturesOwn internal and external routing policy, traffic engineering, and route reflectionConduct network performance tuningDesign and perform complex network-related projects and migrationsEvolve and support the interaction between the network and the live video systemOwn network hardware vendor and device selectionLead, create, and contribute to operational procedures and best practicesWrite detailed technical documentationAct as a senior technical escalation point for the network and video software organizationsYou Have:3+ years experience configuring, operating and troubleshooting protocols like OSPF, MPLS RSVP-TE, BGP, BFD3+ years experience with common protocols and concepts like TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, DHCP, IPv6, or Anycast routing3+ years of hands-on experience with global internet routing, peering/transit relationships, traffic engineering, troubleshooting3+ years experience with networking details such as flow records, packet captures, and telemetry, and combining information from various sources and tools3+ years experience with planning, documenting, testing, and production rollout of new network features or changes3+ years collaborating with and mentoring other engineersBonus PointsExperience with Cisco IOS-XRComfortable working in a globally distributed team across time zonesKnowledge of various AWS services such as EC2, S3, Cloudfront, VPCs, Direct ConnectUnderstand networking concepts such as segment routing, load balancing, SDNCan work comfortably in a Linux environmentExperience with WDM optical systems, Python/GoPerksMedical, Dental, Vision & Disability Insurance401(k), Maternity & Parental LeaveFlexible PTOCommuter BenefitsAmazon Employee DiscountWe are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at Twitch. The base pay for this position ranges from our lowest geographic market up to our highest geographic market.
