Business Development will drive the development and launch of a portfolio of initiatives to drive profitable topline business growth. Efforts include but are not limited to: Identify, evaluate and prioritize potential business development opportunities Develop plans to operationalize opportunities, both to incubate and long-term vision Drive complex multi-stakeholder processes and cross-team programs to launch new business opportunities while managing risk Act as a key Brand Ambassador to potential external business partners Work with the Senior Director, Investor Relations and Business Development on the company?s investor relations program as needed The ideal candidate has intense curiosity about how the retail landscape is evolving and how customers? expectations are changing. The Director ? Business Development is motivated, proactive and results-oriented and has a unique blend of strategic, project management, and problem-solving skills. The Director ? Business Development thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and will take ownership and move with speed to drive new business development at Nordstrom. This position reports to the Senior Director, Investor Relations and Business Development, and will also lend support to the company?s investor relations strategies and tactics. Responsibilities: Own development and communication of vision, business outcomes, success metrics and operationalization of strategic growth initiatives Leverage research and analysis (internal and external) to inform strategic recommendations and decisions on opportunities to pursue Develop compelling storylines and materials that effectively communicate insights/strategies and influence decision-making within Nordstrom Oversee program management (including establishing processes, structures and tools) to launch strategic growth initiatives by effectively collaborating across teams Negotiate key partnership terms with external parties, when needed Take command of high impact issues by escalating, managing and communicating appropriately and mitigating future risk Track and monitor success metrics post launch Own day-to-day management of select opportunities after launch Assist with investor relations activities such as quarterly earnings reporting cycle, investor outreach and communications, etc. You own this if you have? Bachelor?s degree, advanced degree preferred 8+ years of related experience; experience in retail/e-commerce, management consulting, corporate strategy, partnerships or similar field preferred Demonstrated success in formulating strategy and guiding implementation Strong business acumen, critical thinking and project management skills Ability to create effective relationships, influence, and collaborate internally and externally at all organizational levels Adept at prioritizing and planning multi-stakeholder initiatives, providing direction when needed and removing obstacles to get work done Clear and effective written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills Negotiates with genuine win-win approach with a long-term partnership mindset Maintains confidentiality without exception Strong proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint Our employees are our most important asset and that?s reflected in our benefits.--Nordstrom is proud to offer a variety of benefits to support employees and their families, including: Medical/Vision, Dental, Retirement and Paid Time Away Life Insurance and Disability Merchandise Discount and EAP Resources A few more important points...
