SummaryDirector leads the Facilities Engineering department, and is
responsible to oversee all district operations, supervise staff and
participate at the leadership level of the organization. The
Director, Facilities Engineering oversees the operational stability
of all plant operations systems and individual plant operations
components to ensure the integrity of physical system security,
operability and 24/7 reliability.Essential Duties and
Responsibilities1. Provides leadership and oversight for all
aspects of physical plant operations, including planning,
budgeting, Life Safety systems, needs assessment, testing,
implementation, installation, preventative maintenance, inspections
and on-going support. 2. Ensures proper operations of buildings
through managing, maintaining and regulating systems such as HVAC,
electronic, plumbing, physical plant operations, security, fire
control and pressure steam systems.3. Estimates costs related to
design, materials and labor, and monitors construction process.4.
Manages district properties and equipment. Monitors the condition,
care and maintenance of equipment. 5. Plans refinements in
facilities and services. Performs cost analysis of services,
maintenance contracts, collaborative agreements, new purchases and
existing systems. Negotiates contracts. Manages both small- and
large-scale projects.6. Actively supports a positive workplace
culture. Monitors the work performance of staff and provides timely
feedback and performance management. Maintains effective employee
and labor relations practices, including timely follow-up and
resolution of concerns or issues. Ensures that policies and
collective bargaining agreements are administered consistently and
equitably.7. Supervises department staff. Plans and directs
workflow and operations to facilitate consistent delivery of
quality patient-centered care and efficient operations.8. Performs
other related duties and special projects as assigned.Key Skills
and Abilities1. Ability to provide technical direction and
maintenance support to facility operations personnel2. Experience
in facilities and construction project management.3. Experience in
effectively forecasting and tracking project costs.4. Experience in
property management, preventive maintenance, building engineering5.
Strong background in electrical and mechanical systems6.
Coordination with outside contract work for construction or
repair.7. Knowledge of standards, codes, and regulations with
respect to construction and the maintenance of equipment and
facilities, specifically, National Fire Protection Association
(NFPA), (FGI) and Uniform Building Code8. Ability to develop and
work to a schedule, as well as manage multiple projects
simultaneously9. Ability to cultivate working relationships with
internal and external customers to understand their needs, respond
quickly to their requests, and provide feedback in a timely
manner.10. Work with craft employees in a union environment.11.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to schedule and work
with a team of maintenance technicians, engineers, oversight, and

federal, state and local laws.Required Education and Experience 1.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Construction
Management, Architecture, Electrical and or Mechanical Systems
Engineering, plus eight (8) years of experience in any of the
following: facilities estimating, construction management or other
relevant background, or;2. MS degree in engineering from an
accredited college or university and a minimum of five years of
relevant experience.3. Five (5) years progressive experience with
construction, installation, equipment maintenance, and maintenance
of utilities, buildings and grounds. Previous hospital
maintenance/engineering experience is preferred.4. Five (5) years
of management experience.5. Five (5) years of experience
supervising staff.Required Licenses, Certifications and/or
Registrations1. Valid Washington State driver's license
