Product Management Director or Senior Director Washington - Seattle To get the best candidate experience, please consider applying for a maximum of 3 roles within 12 months to ensure you are not duplicating efforts.Job CategoryProducts and TechnologyJob Details What you'll be doing--- The Office of the CTO (OCTO) helps Tableau innovate to extend its mission by going to places that our production Development teams do not today - those places where they don't know what to do or don't know how to do them. We generate new knowledge in these spaces through research, experimentation , and prototyping and demonstrate and validate our knowledge through internal and external writing, talks, and software prototypes that make ideas and solutions concrete. Through these methods, OCTO will be a source of new and inspiring product and technology directions for Tableau each year. We're looking for someone to help us achieve this mission through project leadership, investigations of technologies and customer scenarios that can drive research and prototyping work, and through helping our team stay connected with the development teams that could be inspired by our ideas and experiments and take them to production. Join us to leverage your creativity and experience to imagine and create new capabilities or products that change how our customers analyze, manage, model, and engage with their data. Some o f your responsibilities include--- Project leadership

  • Framing problems into the seed of something we could prototype with a small team of engineers and/or researchers
  • Conducting c ustomer research to fi nd evidence that problems we are working on, or will work on, have value to current or future customers
    • En gaging with customers on the prototyping and research projects that we are doing and gathering feedback
    • Evaluating, testing, and providing feedback to projects to drive them forward or to help conclude them
      • Technology i nvestigation
        • Performing internal and external research on interesting technology topics that may prove to be valuable for us to pursue
        • L ooking into what we could be doing with tech from the rest of Salesforce, helping our team connect to these projects , and framing up what we could do with them
          • Connecting with Tableau
            • Working with other teams to understand the hard problems that lie further out in order to inspir e us to help solve them
            • Reaching out across the company to raise awareness of the things OCTO is doing and finding good matches for teams that may pick up or be inspired by th is work Who you are---
              • Technically Savvy. You are a technologist at heart and have spent your career working on technical projects in a developer, designer, or product manager capacity .
              • Flexible. Y ou are comfortable with open-space problems, where part of the challenge is framing up new challenges for a team excited to tackle them.
              • Team Player.-- You enjoy collaborating with , learning from , and teaching other folks from multiple disciplines. You're comfortable with ambiguous and rapidly changing projects.
              • Thorough. Even in the early phases of a project, you help teams eliminate uncertainties enough that they can proceed with building or studying.
              • Communicator. Whether your project was successful or not, you can share the lessons you've learned with the broader organization.
                • Intellectually Curious. You seek to continuously expand your areas of expertise, learn new ways to do things , and understand why things are the way they are.
                • Educated. You have at least a bachelor's degree (or the equivalent) in computer science or another relevant field.
