Additional Information: This hotel is owned and operated by an independent franchisee, R.C. Hedreen, Co.. The franchisee controls all aspects of the hotel's employment policies and practices, including the selection and hiring process. If you accept a position at this hotel you will be employed by a franchisee and not by Marriott International. Job Responsibilities --- Develop annual department labor budget, employee services budget and employee activities budget. Ensure all aspects of the department operate within budgeted guidelines. --- Understand monthly employee turnover reports and communicate trends to the management staff for internal analysis. --- Assist management staff in the administration of Human Resources policies through written and verbal communications. --- Maintain an active role on the hotel's Executive Committee such that Human Resource issues are surfaced and considered in all discussions and decisions relating to employees and employment practices. --- Develop strategic Human Resources plans and objectives for employees that are consistent with the aims and goals of the Hotel. --- Assist all hotel management personnel in understanding and complying with all policies and procedures, local, state and federal laws and governmental regulations pertaining to employment practices. --- Ensure the Hotel operates in compliance with local, state and federal laws and regulations to ensure a legal and harassment free workplace. --- Obtain and administer an annual Employee Opinion Survey and after doing so, ensure the results are made known to the management staff and appropriate corrective action taken. --- Maintain awareness and/or conduct surveys of employment trends, wages and benefits in the local marketplace and make recommendations for adjusting wage and salary rates. --- Oversee and/or administer all training and development programs as well as effective employee relations and employee recognition programs within the Hotel. --- Arrange bi-monthly staff meeting of all managers in coordination with the General Manager. --- Attend recruitment functions such as job fairs, career days, and other events to source candidates --- Assist hotel personnel with career planning and counseling as needed. Assist with recruiting, screening and hiring high quality Renaissance Seattle Hotel wage and salaried personnel. --- Ensure that necessary corrective actions, including terminations, are done in a fair, legal and consistent manner. --- Ensure that the Dir. of Loss Prevention operates the Loss Prevention Department in an effective and efficient manner. --- Oversee and/or administer the Hotel's Cross Training Program. --- Establish and lead a Diversity Council to foster an inviting and inclusive culture --- Oversee and/or conduct necessary investigations into real or purported violations of the Hotel's policies and procedures as well as discrimination, harassment and related legal allegations. --- Responsible for resolution of legal issues arising from employee issues or employment practices at the hotel including, when necessary, contact with hotel legal counsel. --- Handle duties of the HIPAA Privacy Officer and oversee HIPAA compliance throughout the hotel. --- Handle administration of new hire process, paperwork, training, and enter in HR system in a timely manner --- Responsible for all employee file maintenance. --- Responsible for Manager Guidebook maintenance and Employee Handbook Maintenance. --- Maintain and update bulletin boards in all associate areas and HR bulletin board --- Responsible for labor relations issues that may arise within the hotel. --- Responsible for professional development of self and subordinates. --- Communicate effectively between departments, with the General Manager and Corporate Office within area of responsibility. --- Maintain a fair wage and salary administration in the hotel in accordance with company policy. --- Conduct and/or attend regular department level meetings. --- Recruit, hire and schedule employees to fairly and efficiently meet the needs of the department. --- Direct and coordinate the activities of all assigned personnel and departmental responsibilities. --- Implement and support company operating policies, procedures and standards. --- Ensure all employees are properly inducted, oriented and trained into the department and their job. --- Maintain positive employee relations in a supportive environment. --- Assign and review the job descriptions and the job performance subordinates. --- Monitor worker's compensation claims and establish safe working practices/training --- Ensure good safety practices of employees and guests throughout the hotel. Assist in the maintenance of proper emergency and security procedures. --- Lead the hotel's community outreach activities Job Requirements --- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. --- Good mediation skills with an ability to deal with individuals from all walks of life using tact and diplomacy. --- Ability to work within a diverse environment and to remain calm and professional during stressful times. --- Ability to be a team player in an executive level atmosphere as well as be a leader in the Human Resources arena. --- Self-starter with an ability to make crucial decisions. --- Excellent working knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations.
