seeking an experienced and challenged individual to be our next
Vice President of Development too join our team in our Seattle, WA

disabilities working with hundreds of thousands of volunteers and
coaches each year. Since the establishment of Special Olympics in
1968, the number of people with and without intellectual
disabilities who are involved with the organization has been
growing, but the unmet need to reach more people with intellectual

President for Development is responsible for leading systematic
growth and strengthening Special Olympics Washington's overall
fundraising capacity by ensuring diverse fundraising support
through individual giving, major gifts, grants and foundations,
special events, sponsorships and other innovative approaches. Key
initiatives include building a stronger individual giving and major
gift program, as well as diversifying the contributed income
sources, specifically with major gifts, special events, grants,
foundations, regional fundraising, and corporations. We will also
be deepening our fundraising efforts across the state. They will
work closely with the CEO, COO, VP of Marketing and Communications,
and Program leaders on key initiatives and donor stewardship, as
well as lead and manage the development staff in execution of their
individual and coordinated duties.--This role will report to the
President/CEO.What you'll do:Core duties and responsibilities
include the following.--Other duties may be assigned by
management.* Mount a comprehensive campaign to enable Special
Olympics Washington's multi-year strategic plan (forthcoming)*
Create and execute a annual fundraising plans to successfully
support the organization's multi-year strategic plan and goals
(forthcoming), helping ensure annual growth year over year; key
plan components include overarching strategic initiatives, specific
dollar goals, workplans for major gifts, individual giving, grants
and foundations, special events, and regional fundraising
campaigns* Engage board and volunteers in growing philanthropy and
revenue* Develop and manage all individual and workplace giving
fundraising campaigns, including telemarketing, direct mail,
holiday appeals, quarterly appeal and personal asks* Develop a
targeted annual goal and plan to increase individual and major
gifts revenue and to increase present donor average and median gift
amounts* Coordinate with Special Olympics International on direct
marketing and planned giving initiatives* Create and implement a
donor recognition program that will retain and upgrade donors at
all levels of giving* Develop, implement and monitor progress
toward short- and long-term fundraising strategies and goals*
Assure the development and growth of revenue streams related to
sponsorship* Oversee the strategy and execution of the annual
fundraising events and campaigns including the Law Enforcement
Torch Run, Tasting Room auction, Breakfast with Champions, Polar
Plunge and actively engage the board of directors in fundraising
efforts* Oversee the grants pipeline and work with the Development
team and other leadership staff (Programs, Marketing, Finance) to
author grant proposals and reporting to foundations, corporations,
and public agencies* Coach, mentor, supervise, set goals with and
for, and evaluate the performance of Development staff including
Director of Development - Law Enforcement Torch Run, Development
Manager - Grants/Foundations & Area Fundraising, Development
Coordinator East Region, and Donor Relations Manager* Ensure the
efficiency and integrity of donor data collection and management*
Oversee the development and implementation of strong operational
systems ensuring timely cultivation, solicitation and
acknowledgment of donors, and activity/results, reports, etc. *
Work closely with the Marketing team to ensure fulfillment of
sponsor benefits and execution of marketing activations Our Perfect
CandidateEducation and Experience:* Bachelor's degree or equivalent
experience* 8+ years' progressively responsible experience in
fundraising; leadership experience in developing and implementing
fundraising strategies* Comprehensive campaign experience *
Experience in hybrid-fundraising program that are both centralized
and distributed* Demonstrated track record of raising significant
revenue and meeting revenue generation goals* Success in
initiating, developing, and enhancing relationships with key
stakeholders* Experience in working with boards of directors and
regional volunteers in fundraising and donor strategies * Must be
able to travel* Knowledge of Salesforce and MS Office applications
is required* Expectation of working weekends and evenings, as
neededRequired Abilities and Skills:* Excellent oral, written and
public speaking communication skills, including the ability to
communicate the vision, goals and impact of Special Olympics to
diverse audiences* Ability to mentor, create opportunities, and
empower board members, staff, and volunteers to participate in
fundraising activities* Aptitude for taking on difficult challenges
with the ability to deal with conflict constructively* Strong team
player and collaborator* Strong verbal and written communications
skills* Must be able to multi-task and operate in a fast-paced
environment* Even-tempered with positive energy and sound judgment*
Proven skills building a diverse organization in thought,
background, diversity, approach and insights, both with staff and
volunteers* Capable of managing the "big picture" while paying
attention to detail* Flexibility to lead in a changing
