versatile and respectful manner. Job Summary: As a Course Director,
you will be responsible for supervising one- and two-week
wilderness-based expeditions. This includes managing the logistics,
mentoring staff, and ensuring the safe and successful delivery of
these programs. Course Directors work with instructors to plan
curriculum for expeditions, provide on-call support to groups in
the field, support evacuations, and ensure the smooth day-to-day
operations of the BOLD & GOLD summer program. About BOLD & GOLD The
BOLD (Boys Outdoor Leadership Development) & GOLD (Girls Outdoor
Leadership Development) Program is dedicated to inspiring courage
and confidence in diverse groups of adolescent girls and boys
through outdoor adventures. We run single and all gender
expeditions and each year we engage over 500 youth in outdoor
experiences ranging in length from 4 to 14 days in places like the
North Cascades, Mt Rainier, Squamish, Smith Rocks and Olympic
National Park. Activities include backpacking, rock climbing,
mountaineering, kayaking, fishing, yoga, art, music, literature,
backcountry cooking, and having fun in nature. Our goal is to
increase confidence, courage, emotional intelligence, wonder, and
community awareness in participants. We believe these traits are
the foundations of leadership and work to inspire participants to
develop their own leadership style. We prepare young people, from
middle school on, to return to their communities as leaders through
multicultural experiential education in the natural world. Find out

and a good sense of humor Ability to mentor staff in technical
backcountry skills, including backpacking, rock climbing, paddling,
and mountaineering Knows how to have fun! Anticipated Work Dates:
May 26th, 2021 - September 3rd, 2021 40-50 hours per week - five

respectful manner. Responsibilities Primary Responsibilities
Include: Directing of all aspects of wilderness courses including
logistics, staff supervision, participants, risk management
situations, and a positive group culture. Oversee the safe delivery
of wilderness courses- with an emphasis on multicultural
leadership, ranging in length from 8 to 22 days. Work within a
leadership team of 5 people to ensure all staff and students have
the equipment, tools and knowledge needed to be successful. Train
and mentor staff in how to: Build emotionally and physically safe
environments with groups of middle and high school participants
Help students build emotional intelligence and multicultural
leadership skills through wilderness experience. Be part of a
leadership team that oversees the professional development of up to
75 paid staff and a small team of volunteers Qualifications You are
21 years of age or older and should have: 1-2 years of
experienceworking with youth. Three or more years' experience and
working with diverse populations preferred Two or more years
leading wilderness expeditions with youth Current Wilderness
Medical Certification (WFA, WAFA, WFR, W-EMT) and CPR. Demonstrated
experience planning and implementing activities for youth Excellent
facilitation skills appropriate for working with youth and adults
from different backgrounds. Previous experience in program
supervision or program management is a plus. Other applicable
education, training, and experience, which provide the knowledge,
abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the
position will be considered. Clear criminal background check
Ability to model and demonstrate Y values; caring, respect,
responsibility and honesty Ability to participate in activities
that involve rigorous physical activity in an outdoor setting,
including, but not limited to hiking, boating, camping and
swimming. We strongly recommend all employees within Camping and
Outdoor Leadership have the following vaccinations: 1) Tdap 2) MMR
3) Varicella ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS IF THE POSITION REQUIRES
DRIVING Minimum 21 years old Current Driver's License with a
minimum of 3 years safe driving experience and a driving record
which meets or exceeds YMCA standards. Maximum of one minor Become
