Job Description:

Senior Vice President & Chief Compliance Officer The Senior Vice President, and Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) will report into the General Counsel-- with full --and direct access to the Chief Executive Officer of the company and Board of Directors, with an indirect reporting relationship to the Chair of the Audit Committee of the Board. The reporting relationship will continue to be evaluated in view of industry best practices, evolving government guidance and corporate strategy. The CCO is responsible for designing, overseeing the implementation of and operation of a robust corporate compliance program to fully support the evolution of a fast growing, highly regulated, research, development, and commercial oncology products company. The CCO will need to provide real-time advising on issues, opportunities, risks and risk management as the organization moves forward with rapid development of new product lines, research into new disease areas and geographic expansion (with an initial focus on Europe). The CCO shall ensure that the corporate compliance program-- is in --full synchrony with the current and future compliance, regulatory, and risk environment that would be facing Seagen, providing such overview to Executive Committee and the Board of Directors and appropriate committees, and developing the strategic direction for appropriate risk mitigation for the organization. This includes establishing corporate mechanisms for identifying and analyzing emerging and inherent risks facing the company (i.e., risk assessment); establishing forums for discussion of risks across the organization and coordinated risk mitigations plans (i.e., a risk council); establishing mechanisms for reporting on risks to Executive Management and the appropriate committee of the Board of Directors (e.g., Compliance Committee(s), regular reporting to the Board); governance over the company's Policy Framework (not the content of all policies, but the methodology for how company policies get reviewed and approved and the framework in which such policies are housed); ensuring that company written standards are properly communicated to the organization and appropriate training platforms and requirements are managed consistently; oversight of monitoring protocols as identified through the risk assessment system; establishing and maintaining the company's anonymous reporting mechanism (e.g., the hotline and email reporting system); shared ownership with other functional leaders in oversight and governance of the company's investigation's protocol and process for conducting and analyzing investigation data and implementing and managing systematized analysis and reporting of various relevant data ( i.e , monitoring, audit, investigations, etc.).

  • Design, drive, and oversee the implementation and operation of a robust-- company wide --corporate compliance program for Seagen, a Delaware corporation, and-- all of --its affiliates in Canada, Europe and other regions/countries as established to prevent and detect noncompliance with laws and regulations, unethical behavior, and/or criminal conduct. In this role, the CCO is responsible for the entire compliance program cycle - ensuring systems are in place for establishing policies, procedures and other written standards, appropriate training plans and content, ensuring there is a system for asking questions on specific content (i.e., through an organization of Compliance Officers), establishing and executing on monitoring plans, and overseeing the completion of any corrective actions (either identified through monitoring, auditing, investigations or regular policy reviews)
  • Global governance and primary oversight of Healthcare Compliance (broadly including Interactions with Health Care Professionals, Health Care Organizations, Patients and Patient Advocacy Groups, and Transparency), Anti-Bribery/Anti-Corruption, Conflicts of Interests, and Privacy
  • Global governance and primary oversight of Privacy, HIPAA, and Information Security Compliance
  • Advise executive management and the Board of Directors regarding, and the implementation of, systems to monitor and oversee key risks facing the corporation
  • Knowing that there are several risk areas that are appropriately governed by other functions (e.g., Quality, Financial Controls, Pharmacovigilance), coordinate the governance functions to design a systematic methodology for consolidating insights into the risk environment, various approaches to risk mitigation including training, awareness, continuing education, monitoring of key risk areas, etc., and ensure oversight of areas where risks overlap and where there may be risk gaps in governance
  • This person will collaborate, interact, and work in synchrony with executive management and report to and interact with the Board of Directors of the corporation as well as other functional senior leaders across the organization
  • This person must have both deep and broad knowledge about corporate operations and the life science's-- industry; --how to communicate-- with and --influence senior-- leaders; drive --behavioral change across the corporation and through multiple levels; design solutions and drive implementation for significant and complex issues involving in-depth evaluation of multiple variables;-- and --exhibit the highest level of reasoned judgment and discretion Qualifications:--
    • 15+ years in an executive level Compliance/Risk management role, preferably in a chief compliance officer role
    • 8-10-- years ' --experience --in pharma/biotech/life sciences industry is required
    • Experience with global, multinational organizations and leading global teams strongly preferred
    • Experience in interacting with, and reporting to, Boards of Directors or Audit Committees of Boards of Directors Education:--
