GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES The CFO at the Washington Athletic Club is responsible for the leadership and success of the WAC's Finance--department, and is accountable for long-range financial plans, annual operating--plans and budgets, forecasts, strategic capital planning and investment,--overall proactive management of banking, risk management, accounting,--control, reporting, tax, retail--storefront leasing, insurance, retirement programs (including pension and 401k), purchasing, information services and parking facility operations. The CFO has executive oversight responsibility--for Human Resources department. The CFO--is entrusted with confidential and proprietary information of the WAC. The position takes a leadership role in meetings of the Board of Governors and Board Committees, serves on the Senior--Executive Team, and enhances the WAC's mission by, for example, cost avoidance--recommendations, making sound projections, and safeguarding WAC assets and--Member/vendor relations. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Takes a leadership role in the Board of Governors meetings, Executive Committee meetings and Chairmen's Committee meetings (as required) and works with the President & CEO and Senior Executive Team to attain the WAC's mission, vision, and values.
  • Leads the Finance Committee meetings and Audit Committee meetings, provides executive oversight for Human Resource and Benefits Committee meetings and serves as permanent voting member, attends Executive and House Committee meetings and collaborates with the Chair(s) on Committee functions. Also attends and advises other Committees as needed.
  • Accountable for long and short-range financial and business plans including budgets for capitalexpenditures and operations, sales forecasts, and pricing plans; and works with WAC Senior Executive Team on matters such as business planning,contractual reviews, and evaluations. Leads WAC divisions in understanding and accomplishing optimalfinancial performance.
  • Accountable for capital management and accounting including management of cash, credit and collection, retirement funds including pension and 401(k), investments, insurance, government reporting, and tax administration.
  • Represents the WAC and works with Board of Governors, Executives, financial advisors, auditors, and other resources to safeguard the WAC's assets, systems, controls, and relations with the banking and investor community.
  • Directs and provides overall supervision to the Controller, VP of Human Resources, Director ofInformation Technology and Parking Facility and Security Systems Manager; responsible for finance, accounting, human resource, information systems,parking facility and other functions.
  • Accountable for the WAC's finance, accounting,and information systems and standards, and serves as a resource on business and financial planning concepts, systems, and projections to alldivisions.
  • Accountable for finance and other results inlight of WAC's mission, vision, values, and goals; and works with the President & CEO and other Senior Executive Team members to refine keystrategies.
  • Drives efficiencies and improvements in WAC information systems relative to hardware, software, and security to continually improve the Club's management information processes and systems.
  • Provides executive oversight for personnelfunctions including labor relations and collective bargaining, recruitment, employment, compensation, benefits, and equal employment opportunity, andTeam Member recognition and work environment.
  • Serve as Treasurer of the separate WACFoundation providing oversight to receivable collection, accounting, government reporting and tax administration.
  • Represent the WAC at club industry functionsand organizations, including the clubCFO conference and annual property and casualty insurance conference.
  • Represent the WAC in Seattle area non-profit, charitable, and community organizations. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Completion of a B.A. or B.S. degree in accounting, or equivalent, and certification as a C.P.A. is required.
    • Ten to fifteen years of progressively successful finance and accounting management and professional experience with outstanding skills in hospitality industry problem solving, accounting, and finance management,or equivalent.
    • Proficient in MS Office Suite
    • Passion for service and hospitality
    • A high ability to communicate effectively with members and team members both in person and on the phone.
    • Technology aptitude and experience
    • High degree of emotional intelligence
    • Demonstrated risk management and insurance experience
