Not-For-Profit / Higher Education Manager Position Summary Grant
Thornton's Strategy practice helps clients create a practical
strategy that guides their organization's transformation as it
adapts to meet their vision and goals. We target our clients' best

Not-for-Profit & Higher Education Strategy professionals bring a
tailored approach to help develop and operationalize strategies to
scale and create specific tactics that trigger transformation. With
deep industry experience and extensive knowledge of organizational
functions and priorities, our teams align organization's people,
processes and technology across functions, to optimize performance
from strategy to execution.-- As a Manager, you will develop a
broad base of industry and functional knowledge while managing
complex aspects of our engagements. You will work closely with Sr.
Managers and Directors and clients to dive deep into their issues,
create strategic recommendations, develop persuasive presentations,
and implement change. You will collaborate with others to make
contributions to our firm. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Ability to provide exceptional client service and quality
outputs through all phases of project and engagement management for
multiple clients across a variety of projects.
- Outstanding project and personnel management, oversight, and
guidance that allow our project teams and people to grow and
- Lead, manage, direct, and monitor client service teams on
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a
strong financial, operational, or technical background
- General business knowledge in various functional areas (e.g.,
finance, HR, payroll, registrar, bursar, grants/program management,
IT, etc.) and/or the not-for-profit/higher education sector; (Note:
although not-for-profit/higher education experience is preferred,
individuals with backgrounds in other industries but with an
interest in NFP/HE are encouraged to apply as well.)
- A bility to engage successfully and simultaneously on a variety
of projects, including: -Strategic planning and strategic business
analysis -Financial performance improvement - Board governance -
Business process re-engineering - Organizational assessments and
operational reviews - Technology advisory (including system
evaluation/selection, IT assessment and IT strategic planning,
project management, systems implementation, IT controls
enhancement, post-implementation review, etc.) - Internal audit,
with a focus on consultative recommendations to business processes
and controls - Enhancements to financial/operational controls
- Other duties as assigned. Qualifications
- Bachelors' degree in a related field is required. MBA or
advanced degree from a quality business school is a plus.
- Successful candidates will have 7+ years of consulting
experience and 7+ years of relevant industry experience.
- Practical exposure to the application of information technology
to address business issues is a plus; exposure to not-for-profit
and higher education systems would be of particular advantage.
- Experience with business process analysis and improvement
projects, and/or use of analytical techniques and tools.
- Experience leading and assisting with business development
activities in order to play a key role in future business
generation and continued development of the client base.
- Established relationships within the not-for-profit and higher
education sector, as well as a demonstrated ability to maintain
relationships and cross-sell services into the industry.
- Ability to handle day-to-day practice and client administrative
matters (e.g., billing, budget to actuals, client acceptance,
engagement letter preparation, performance reviews, etc.).
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
