Job Description:

Responsible for assisting the State Income Tax Compliance group with all aspects of preparing and reviewing state and local returns and applying all aspects of the federal return and state specific information as it relates to income and franchise tax return preparation. Analyze and prepare state, city, or other jurisdictions tax returns for the appropriate year, including a focus on combined, consolidated and unitary state filings.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for management of part or all of the aspects of tax compliance work for clients
Ensure accuracy and completeness of the tax compliance product, perform the necessary procedures to ensure that a quality product is delivered on a timely basis, and confirm the acceptance of complete compliance product by appropriate parties
Coordinate and review activities of Associate Tax Consultants, Tax Consultants and Sr. Tax Consultants under the direction of the Compliance Director, including training
Initiate and continue client contact during and after the engagement process
Maintain long-term relationships with all clients with the potential for additional state income division services or services provided by other divisions
Maintain excellent knowledge of all state income tax laws, regulations, court decisions, and the state impact of foreign transactions
Research complex tax issues
Interact and assist Directors of National Accounts and Director of State Income to capitalize on client opportunities and prospecting
Understand the qualification criteria of the other service divisions and maintain capability to cross sell these services and explain to clients and prospects
Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assist with administrative matters as needed
Participate in DMA educational speaking engagements as assigned
Perform other duties as assigned
Education and Qualifications
Advanced knowledge and experience with corporate federal/state tax software, with CorpTax and/or OneSource preferred
Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting required, Master's degree in Tax a plus
5-7 years' experience in a Big 4 accounting firm or corporate tax environment
Income Tax knowledge should include should include all Income Tax laws, regulations, court decisions and the state impact of foreign transactions
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
Ability to travel approximately 20%
Valid driver's license required
