What are we looking for?

In two years, WorkMoney's membership went from zero to over 2 million everyday Americans. As our audience grows, our Data Science & Analytics team needs to grow to ensure we're delivering meaningful and impactful content to larger swaths of our audience. We're planning significant investments in our test and learn program in the year ahead and need an expert who can design and execute research strategies that help us learn more about our audience, our brand, and our impact.

The Director of Research and Experimentation is a newly created role to drive, test,and implement new programs that build trust with our members. The Director will have a deep commitment to continuous learning and have experience implementing trust-building programs that are cost-efficient, targeted, and measurably impactful. Successful candidates will have experience with issue advocacy or civic engagement, RCTs, and a strong stats background. This role is the perfect mix of strategy and implementation for those who thrive on moving between high-level strategy and vision and getting their hands dirty digging into the data.

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute RCTs and other research experiments: you should be comfortable starting with a hypothesis, building a rigorous test around it, project managing internal and external teams to implement your test and then analyzing the final results.
  • Communicate results and make recommendations: the data science and analytics team works in close partnership with internal teams. The right candidate would need to be comfortable providing regular and easy to understand presentations and progress reports to team members at every level of the org.
  • Design an ongoing testing strategy: WorkMoney is constantly learning and this role will help us set up rapid tests primarily over SMS to test current theories and iterate.
  • Support org wide experimentation: Work with leaders across departments to design tests around building trust, engaging members and moving people to act in their financial self-interest.
  • Keep us up to date around the newest advances in research methodologies: Like I said, we like to learn!

    Requirements

    Must Haves
    • 7+ years of experience designing and executing research projects
    • Proven ability to create big picture testing strategy
    • Expert in statistics and research methodology
    • Ability to analyze data and draw statistical conclusions
    • Self-motivated and intellectually curious - driven by the desire to learn
    • Big picture thinker with excellent communication skills

      Nice to Haves
      • Expertise with Python, SQL, R or other data programming language
      • Experience with advocacy, legislative or electoral campaign research
      • Management experience a plus

        The salary for this role starts at $130,000 annually based on experience.
