The First Hill Surgery Center in Seattle, WA is seeking an ASC RN
Manager ( PACU).
The Pre-OP/PACU Manager supervises and coordinates activities of
personnel in the pre-operative, PACU, and post-operative areas.
Ensures adherence to policy, procedure and schedule. The Manager is
responsible to oversee workflow and is a link between staff and the
FHSC Leadership.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Bachelors of Science in Nursing degree preferred
Associates degree in Nursing will be accepted
Certification/Licensure:
Current license in Washington State as a Registered Nurse
CPR certification required
ACLS certification required
PALS certification required
Experience:
1. Three to five years' experience in a Pre-Operative/PACU Manager
area. R.N. position in an Ambulatory Surgery Center setting
preferred
2. One to two years charge, Managerial or management experience
preferred.
3. Nurse staffing experience in an Ambulatory Surgery Center
setting required.
Skills:
1. Extensive knowledge of community standards related to ambulatory
surgical center quality assurance.
2. Extensive knowledge of and experience with emergency code teams
in a hospital or ambulatory setting.
3. Extensive knowledge of medical procedures performed in various
physician specialties.
4. Strong communication skills.
5. Strong organizational skills.
6. Strong leadership skills.
7. Basic keyboarding and computer skills.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

relationships with Managers and peers.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Works with the Director of Nursing to, hire, and maintain qualified
staff to achieve patient safety and satisfaction as well as
budgeted FTEs. Works with Director of Nursing to provide ongoing
in-service education and monthly staff meetings. Provide ongoing
support and supervision of surgery staff, to include coaching,
motivation, competency assessment, and annual review. Works with
Director of Nursing to give feedback and complete performance
improvement plans. Maintain staff schedules, approve vacation
requests, and document attendance for each employee. Complete staff
pay role weekly and work with pay role department to respond to
staff queries related to pay. Directs the day to day activities of
the Pre-Operative/PACU area up to and including being part of the
patient care activities. Plan and organize Pre-Operative/PACU
workflow, and ensure necessary equipment and supply needs are met.
Works with the Director of Nursing to troubleshoot and analyze
processes/systems to improve quality/efficiencies. Participate in
the surgery center quality assurance program. Work as a team member
with physicians, administration, nursing staff, and other managers
in all of departments both internal and external. Review and
investigate incident/accidents/adverse events occurring in the
Pre-Operative/PACU area and notify Director of Nursing in a timely
manner. Direct CPI initiatives with the support of Director of
Nursing. Participates in policy and procedure creation, review and
update in collaboration with the FHSC Director of Nursing Act as a
role model in providing customer-based service. Act as a role model
to maintain high morale and job satisfaction among staff. Manage
patients in the Pre-Operative/PACU setting with patient safety and
satisfaction being the goal Be involved in the development,
training and education for new procedures within the Surgery
center. Be a member of the safety committee and educate staff on
safety policies in conjunction with the FHSC Director of Nursing.
Be Responsible for oversight of workflow in the Pre-Operative/PACU
area, and notifies the FHSC Director of Nursing of any delay which
may impact work flow. Assists with staff and clinical needs i.e.
providing breaks, ensure coverage for lunch breaks, late cases, and
staffing shortages, as required. Monitors to ensure that the
clinical area is maintained properly i.e. equipment cleaned and
functioning properly. Assist with maintaining proper inventory
levels and cost containment. Assist with employee orientation and
ensuring preceptor coverage is available for new staff. Maintain
oversight of Pre-Operative/PACU RN documentation, including log
verification, and participate in audit activity. Ensure appropriate
communication between the Pre-Operative/PACU and the OR suite.
Manages bed assignments and patient transfers to and from the OR.
Has oversite of patient discharge activity and participates in the
development and maintenance of discharge instructions in
conjunction with the FHSC Director of nursing. Perform other
related duties as assigned.
