**Description****THE ROLE**The Service Area Director Pharmacy Services is a professionally competent, legally qualified pharmacist who is thoroughly knowledgeable about and has experience in respective pharmacy practice and management. The Service Area Director assists the Executive Director (to whom they report) in providing oversight and comprehensive strategic planning, oversight, design, operation, and improvement of the Service Area 's pharmacy services offered.The Service Area Director will manage the overall pharmacy operations in the service area assigned in collaboration with ministry senior managers/managers and lateral colleagues. The Service Area Director will also collaborate with broader Service Area leadership to assist in the development, implementation, pursuing & holding accountability to system & Service Area strategic, UM, operational and other initiatives.The Service Area Director will be responsible for improving the medication management system; regulatory compliance within their service area; will ensure quality outcomes through performance-improvement activities; lead drug utilization efforts; optimize the use of information systems and technology; manage the pharmaceutical supply chain, financial operations, Policy & Procedures and support managers and staff in achieving their goals and human resources needs including achieving acceptable caregiver engagement. The Service Area Director will have direct oversight and plays an important role in directly &/or indirectly supporting the ministry leaders in their respective service area.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS+ Ensures that the Swedish mission and core values are at the forefront of all activities. Promotes a safe environment of care and complies with all safety regulations through employee orientation, ongoing training, policy development, and appropriate documentation. Provides leadership for the designated team to promote and maintain high employee morale, engagement, and commitment to the organization during times of both stability and great change in healthcare. Helps support unity and change management through clear communication and performance.+ Accountability for their assigned service area's all human resource management aspects, financial sustainability, regulatory compliance, all operational & clinical programs/activities, medication safety and quality programs.+ Through a well-defined pharmacy management structure and operating governance frame-work, accountable for executing strategies, tactics and all initiatives for pharmacy services (operational, clinical and product level services) across business units and programs within the assigned service area . Under the guidance of the Service Area executive director of pharmacy, collaborates with other service area directors, Service Area shared services, system shared services leaders & other leaders to ensure consistency & alignment in overall practice+ Under the guidance of the executive director & in collaboration with the Swedish leadership, sets yearly Service Area pharmacy performance goals and objectives, ministry budgets, programs offered, technology & resources planning and development.+ Maintains close coordination, and relationships with all departments & key individuals to assure continuity and collaboration of services throughout their service area. Participates in system, Service Area and ministry committees/councils/workgroups as needed to effectively achieve position goals that support the organization.+ Ensures compliance with Federal and State laws, regulations and standards regarding the provision of pharmaceutical services across their service area, and in alignment with their Service Area and when applicable with system expectations.+ Works closely with Providers, Nursing Administration, Quality management and understands the interactions between these areas in management of the medication use process.+ Lead a highly effective and accountable team of leaders within their service area with emphasis on communication, accountability, leadership effectiveness and ensuring employee & patient satisfaction and engagement.+ Where applicable, performs Swedish pharmacy leader duties including but not limited to being the PIC.Performs any other related duties as requested by the EVP/Chief Executive, Swedish, Chief Executive Officer and/or Chief Operating Officer, or other Service Area or system pharmacy leaders.**IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS**Required experience/education for this position include:+ Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college of Pharmacy+ Current pharmacist license in the state of practice+ 5 years of pharmacy experience in applicable area+ 3 years of management experience+ Personal values and ethics which are consistent with those of Providence St. Joseph Health+ Understanding of pharmacy operations of pharmacy services+ Demonstrated skills in clear communication, team building, problem solving, sound decision-making, innovation and effective change management+ Demonstrated abilities to develop and implement contemporary clinical and operational pharmacy services+ Current knowledge of regulatory and accreditation standards+ Thorough understanding of the 340B program requirements (where applicable).Preferred experience/education for this position include:+ PharmD; or equivalent educ/experience+ Master's Degree (MPH, MBA); or equivalent educ/experience.**About Providence**At Providence, our strength lies in Our Promise of "Know me, care for me, ease my way."
