MTM Robotics (an Airbus company) is looking for a self-motivated and dependable individual to fill an opening for Robotics Test Manager to join our growing Robotics Team. MTM designs, manufactures, and installs automated assembly and control systems for research and industrial manufacturing applications in the aerospace industry. Our tools are used in the direct manufacture of large-scale aerospace structures. We have a dynamic, talented, and collaborative team and want those who are energized by contributing to solutions to solve our customer's toughest problems.
The Robotics Test Manager is responsible for actively driving and managing the technology evaluation, working as a key technical advisor and product advocate. The Applications Manager must be able to identify and provide reliable solutions for all technical issues to assure complete customer satisfaction through all stages of the deployment lifecycle.
The duties of the Robotics Test Manager:
Management--- Identify and surface hiring needs and assist in the process of creating or reviewing job descriptions, filtering applications, interviewing candidates, and contributing todiscussions for selecting new employees within your team or for related teams as necessary. --- Onboarding new employees within your team including identifying current and future workloads. Track new employee progress and provide guidance to improve priorities and efficiencies. Identify and enable training opportunities that are high value additions to employee skills.--- Communicate with upper management if demands on self and/or team members are over the established expectations for an extended period. This includes work volume and level of difficulty.--- During the annual review process, drive the timely completion of employee's self-evaluations, manager evaluations, and meeting with each employee to discuss reviews.--- Periodically throughout the year, ensure employee goals are reviewed and progress against these goals is tracked and achieved.--- Address performance issues for any employee on your team (coordinating with HR), including clearly defining the issues in the Performance Improvement Plans (PIP) document, devising a clear improvement plan, and following any company policies available to rectify the issue.--- Work with HR to support the process of terminating employment of direct reports as needed.--- Reach out to members of the Executive Team when situations arise where a clear course of direction is unknown, especially in cases of a breach in established company policies.
Leadership--- Assist Head of Production in prioritizing workload according to company needs. Communicate work assignment to Applications Engineers.--- Actively drive the progress of Applications Engineer and Robotics Technician assignments to ensure deadlines are met. When progression is not aligned with deadline needs, look for solutions and work with Head of Production to implement.--- Review upcoming projects for Applications Engineers and Robotics Technicians and assist in planning current and future resource assignments.--- Ensure documentation for Applications Engineering department is organized and up to date.--- Ensure Applications Engineers have the resources they need to effectively do their jobs. Identify if budget is needed to increase performance.--- Work together with Production Manager when support is needed or vice versa.--- Meet regularly with team members and address or elevate concerns and interpersonal issues--- Set clear expectations for the department and document best practices
Design, Development and Marketing--- Coordinate with Production Manager to get support for machine repairs as needed.--- Learn and maintain expert level of product knowledge and applications
Customer-Focus--- Assure that direct, phone and email support for new and existing applications is provided to our customers in an efficient manner, in both critical and non-critical times--- Schedule travel for Applications engineers and Robotics technicians to support company and project needs--- Interface with customers during onsite visits for acceptance of machines--- Manage the qualification process for all products.--- Oversee product qualification at MTM and customers sites.--- Review and provide completed qualification plan to the project manager.
Documentation--- Support developing customer-focused documents covering functionality, usage, calibration, maintenance, user-programming and troubleshooting of the company product with the team--- Provide project status and/or reports to team, supervisor, and customers verbally and via email
Requirements:--- Personnel management experience of 5+ years--- Proficient in Microsoft Office--- Self-motivated but also works well under general supervision--- Works well in high pressure situations, during tight deadlines, and in front of customers--- Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills--- Willing to travel to existing and future customers sites to help support direct reports and projects--- Robotics or Industrial Automation background--- Ability to read mechanical and electrical blueprints and have a solid understanding of basic electrical and mechanical control systems
Preferred:--- Bachelor's Degree (B.A or B.S) in an Engineering field--- Proficient in SolidWorks--- Ability to perform application programming on specialized high-level robot-oriented languages--- A solid understanding of network communications theory--- Customer service experience
