Job Description Summary:

The Boeing Company is currently looking for Director for IP Enforcement, Audit and Compliance to join the team located in Seattle, WA, Seal Beach, CA, or Arlington, VA.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Responsibilities may include managing a team of IP professionals who conduct audits of IP license agreements, enforce Boeing IP rights and manage any third-party IP litigation actions against Boeing, and manage policy development and address IP compliance questions and issues that arise across the enterprise.
  • The role requires excellent collaboration, communication, leadership, and influencing skills as well as a business-oriented approach and a willingness to proactively engage with internal clients.
  • Manage audits of IP license agreements
  • Manage enforcement of Boeing IP rights and any third-party IP litigation actions against Boeing
  • Manage policy development and address IP compliance questions and issues that arise across the enterprise
  • Work with and oversee outside counsel on significant IP litigation matters
  • Lead projects to streamline and improve audit processes, and compliance reporting and review
  • Manage subsidiary compliance programs
  • Manage trade secret enforcement actions

    This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. - 120.15 is required. "US Person" includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

    Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

    • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study in technical subject (e.g. engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry)
    • Registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)
    • JD from an ABA accredited law school
    • Minimum of 10 years practicing as an IP lawyer in a law firm and/or in-house
    • Minimum of 10 years of experience in patent infringement and trade secret enforcement actions

      Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

      • Collaborative working style with ability to build trusting relationships, inviting and sharing idea and feedback, productively challenge your own and others' assumptions to generate new ideas and facilitate better outcomes.
      • Outstanding written and oral communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
      • Experience managing complex projects and a large volume of matters, meet deadlines, and prioritize as needed.
      • Familiarity with technologies pertinent to aerospace.
      • Excellent business judgment and strategic thinking, ability to understand complex IP issues, assess risk, and provide concise business-focused legal advice
      • Communicate effectively with senior executives.
      • Strong leadership skills
