Summary: The VP of Procurement will develop and carry out strategies, policies, and procedures for the procurement of Direct and Indirect Goods and Services for the organization. This position manages a spend of approximately $500M and a Corporate Procurement Team Of approximately 25 total individuals. Categories under management include commodities, ingredients, packaging, MRO, supplies, services, external subcontracting and external fish procurement. This role will lead the evaluation of suppliers and work to reduce vendor risk by developing scorecards and analyzing vendor performance. Establish strong relationships with vendors, facilitate communication between all sections of the company, and work to ensure production and delivery targets are met. This role will also direct efforts to improve supply chain efficiency and maintain product quality standards along with a key element of developing and implementing productivity and cost savings projects. Reporting Relationships:

  • Reports direct to Executive Vice President of Supply Chain
  • Supervise 6 direct reports - Director of Procurement; Director of Fish Procurement; Senior Manager - Procurement Systems and Compliance; Manager - Packaging & Development; Director - External Custom Processing/Co-Manufacturing; Senior EAM Data Integrity Lead
  • Maintains a dotted line reporting relationship with all Plant Buyers Key Responsibilities:
    • Plans, organizes, directs, and controls activities related to the procurement function
    • Develops comprehensive category sourcing strategies for all spend areas
    • Leads the management, design, and enhancement of purchasing systems, procedures and the overall Procure to Pay business process.
    • Analyzes market and delivery conditions to determine present and future material availability and prepares market price analysis reports for presentation to key Stakeholders
    • Utilizes the ERP System to evaluate vendor quotations that utilizes appropriate negotiation and purchasing techniques to ensure quality, price, delivery, and service.
    • Develops and implements KPI's to monitor department performance and compliance to policy standards
    • Recruits and maintains suppliers that provide high quality products and services at a better price while maintaining the highest code of ethics and conduct
    • Reviews purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy
    • Prepares and reviews contracts, bids, proposals, and vendor agreements for legal correctness, price, and acceptability of items to specifications.
    • Assigns procurement requests to the appropriate personnel
    • Negotiates or supervises the negotiation of complex requests for commodities, ingredients, packaging, MRO, supplies, services, capital equipment, finished goods and external fish required from suppliers and subcontractors
    • Recruits, trains, and develops a high functioning Procurement Team with the capability to meet and exceed company supply chain goals.
    • Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in Procurement with a minimum of 5 years at the Director, Senior Director or VP level
    • Strong knowledge and experience in sourcing commodities, ingredients, and packaging with food industry leaders required
    • Experience in using commodity risk management tools a plus Education:
      • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, finance, accounting, business, or similar area of focus required
      • Advanced Degree (MBA or MS) a plus Qualifications:
        • Extensive knowledge Procurement Systems and the Procure to Pay Business Process
        • Continuous improvement/lean manufacturing mindset
        • Ability to identify, design, and implement Procurement process improvements
        • Excellent oral and written communication skills
        • Experience working with Procurement Systems in a Processing or Manufacturing Environment required, experience with SAP and Ariba a plus
        • Ability to lead and develop direct reports and build effective cross-functional/cross-level teams
        • CPSM or similar certification preferred
        • Experience developing and managing department SG&A and Raw Material Budgets
