Job Description:

As the Director, School Leadership Development, you will provide Bezos Academy with crucial expertise and leadership as we scale our growing network of Montessori-inspired preschools nationwide. Your core charge will be to develop and oversee all processes and mechanisms for supporting school leaders from onboarding to ongoing professional learning and development. You will collaborate with a variety of stakeholders to refine our onboarding process for new school leaders, and design systems and trainings that support ongoing, network-wideprofessional development. You will lead a small team that creates and oversees development pathways for current and prospective school leaders with a focus on school leaders launching new schools and those in residency or training. You will synthesize and prioritize the needs of leaders at the network, regional, and school level. You will bring extensive experience in a range of fields including school leadership development, differentiated professional development, and strategic planning.
With deep experience in educational leadership, you are an innovative leader and subject matter expert in adult learning with personal experience teaching, leading, and developing others toward transformational outcomes. Above all, you must share our passion for expanding access to high quality, Montessori-inspired preschool in under-resourced communities.
LOCATION


  • Flexible in the United States; Seattle, WA preferred.
  • Relocation support is available for those willing to relocate to Seattle, WA.

    COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

    • This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, salaried position.
    • The full salary range for this position, across all United States geographies, is $126,000 - $259,000 per year. The upper portion of the salary range is typically reserved for existing employees who demonstrate strong performance over time. Starting salary will vary by location, qualifications, and prior experience; during the interview process, candidates will learn the starting salary range applicable for their location.
    • This role includes 15 paid days of vacation, 4 days of paid personal time off, 7 paid days of sick (care) time, 9 paid holidays, 5 paid days off for an organization-wide winter break, and additional time off if required by applicable law. Benefits for this role include medical, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, a 401(k) plan with a 4% employer contribution match, paid parental leave, an employer-matched flexible spending account for dependent care, and more.       MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

      • Bachelor's degree
      • Ten or more years of relevant experience, including experience as top school leader and experience managing school leaders
      • Experience working with young children and families in low-income areas
      • Proven experience delivering effective leadership professional learning and developing school leaders to achieve strong outcomes
      • Demonstrated experience with project management and ability to handle multiple complex projects simultaneously
      • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusiveness
      • Strong grounding in best practices facilitating adult learning using a variety of techniques and media (e.g., online/on-demand, in person, interactive, blended, etc.)
      • Ability to travel up to 25% of time

        PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

        • Higher degree in early childhood education, educational leadership, or another relevant field
        • Systems level leadership experience in a large school district or school network
        • Five or more years of experience leading within a complex educational organization and/or start-up organization
        • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with demonstrated experiencing effectively with stakeholders at all levels
        • Strong foundation in early childhood educational theory and practice
        • Knowledge of Montessori and other child-centered pedagogies
        • Knowledge of childcare licensing
