Our Digital team is transforming how we deliver solutions and
interact with our members across our Commerce, Mobile and Order

As a member of the IT Management Team, you are responsible for
managing, developing, and leading a team of employees. Your role
includes leading the specific functional responsibilities of your
team, which involves overseeing team performance and deliverables.
However, your role as a leader within our organization requires
more than the management of resources and day-to-day operations. As
a steward of the company, you are charged with the development and
execution of your team's strategic vision and its alignment to the
larger company and the IT Division goals.
The Digital Engineering Manager will lead a team of Engineers to
support the transformation journey for our Digital web team. The
right candidate will enhance and support the existing capabilities
of Costco's very large public business-to-consumer and
business-to-business websites and help the business realize its
target sales goals. The Engineering Manager should have a deep
technical background and be knowledgeable in programming languages,
software development methodologies, and technology stacks. The
ideal candidate should be able to lead and motivate a team of
engineers to achieve product goals, create a positive work
environment, and encourage teamwork and collaboration.

your role in communicating and modeling the values and guiding

ROLE
--- INTEGRITY: When achieving benchmarks and goals, use

--- ADMINISTRATION: Ensures proper department coverage (writing
schedule and break aids if needed). Understands department budget,
able to research and explain budget variances.
--- MANAGING PERFORMANCE: Coaches and mentors employees to provide
support and guidance. Has regular open and honest conversations
with employees to discuss work performance and career development.
Identifies learning opportunities to strengthen employee knowledge,
skill and ability.
--- COMMUNICATION: Regularly shares information with employees via
meetings and one-on-one conversations. Successfully navigates
difficult conversations with employees, members, and suppliers.
Listens, expresses empathy and adapts to get points across.
Addresses issues immediately to ensure a timely resolution and to
avoid escalating the situation. Consistently demonstrates business
knowledge during interactions with senior management.

--- This is a full-time management/leadership position (45 hours
per week).
REQUIRED
--- At least 5 years' experience managing a medium to large agile
development team.
--- Experience building large-scale applications, preferably web
based, in a cloud environment.
--- Experience leading a group of software engineers in a DevOps
culture.
--- Advocate for leveraging and evolving a continuous
delivery/integration pipeline and QA Automation to drive
agility.
--- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
--- Strong leadership and team-building skills.
--- Innovative, creative, and with a passion for excellence.
--- Strong interpersonal skills; able to work with people at all
management levels.
--- Detail oriented and having strong problem-solving skills.
--- Excellent organizational and planning skills, with experience
building strategic and tactical plans.
--- Ability to analyze a situation for potential future
problems.
--- Ability to work under pressure and in a crisis situation.
--- Able to support off hours work as required including weekends,
holidays, and 24/7 on call responsibilities.
--- Extremely responsive, with a strong sense of urgency.
--- HIPAA Training and Supervisors Orientation (within 30 days of
hire); Leadership Development 101 (within one year); Costco Pay
Policies (within 90 days of promotion).
Recommended
--- Experience managing an eCommerce team would be a plus.
--- Front End development experience would be a plus.
--- Knowledge of Websphere Commerce systems is a plus.
--- Experience with Java or C# development stack in a distributed
application development environment preferred.

Pay Range: $135,000 - $200,000, Bonus and Restricted Stock Unit
(RSU) eligible
