Local Unit & Position DescriptionTo enable Energy Systems to
achieve its strategic ambitions and become future fit, we need
leaders who drive business operations to meet customers'
expectations while also continuously improving the way we work.
Renewables & Power Grids is therefore seeking the Head of Section
(Director) to further scale, innovate, increase the accuracy, and
speed up the delivery of solar energy assessments. The Head of
Section optimizes business operations and improve the long-term
performance of the section. They work closely on commercial
opportunities to strengthen and expand business, including driving
the doer/seller culture. They direct the service line activities
and drives technical competence development within the Solar Energy
Assessment aligned with Energy Systems strategy. The Head of
Section has a strong focus on delivery, innovation and utilization,
gains efficiency within the section. They partner with KAMs, MAMs
and Segment Leads in delivering an excellent customer experience
while stimulating collaboration within their section/ team as well
across the organization. They must ensure that they have the right
number of staff with the right capabilities and strives for a high
performing collaborative culture and exceptional employee
experience.This position will preferably be based out of our
Seattle office. We will consider other DNV renewables offices such
as Medford, Oakland, or Austin.What you'll do
- Build, implement and maintain the Solar Energy Assessment
business plan
- Ensures an efficient & consistent delivery of services in line
with customer expectations.
- Optimizes business performance through delivery management,
cost-efficient business operations, improvement of the utilization
rate and an aligned workforce plan
- Drive innovation in Solar Energy Assessment by proposing new
improvements, tools, and business practices to further our
leadership position in the industry
- Empower employees, foster professional growth and progression,
and encourage employee retention through personnel evaluation
process, coaching and mentoring, and training
- Creates a flexible workforce and automates workflows to deal
with variable workload
- Builds and strengthens a strong internal culture based on
company's values
- Supports the Head of Department in strategy and decision
making
- Stimulates a high performing culture, sets direction, is output
driven and act as a role model for and inspiring employee
experience
- Ensures that employees have the required technical competences
and owns the pipeline for technical talent
- Promotes team capabilities internally and externally
- Actively collaborates with Service Area Leaders and
corresponding role (s) in other business lines to evolve the
service portfolio and capture customer opportunities
- Owns talent pipeline and development of technical talent/future
needed capabilities

required
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
- 5+ years of relevant industry experience
- 3+ years of professional experience in solar energy
assessment
- Experience in managing a team, with the proven ability to
develop a high-performing culture in a fast-paced changing and
complex environment
- Proven leadership skills to engage, develop, and motivate
employees
- Demonstrated excellence in written communication and
presentation abilities
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills
- We conduct pre-employment drug and background screeningWhat is
preferred
- Master's Degree in relevant field such as engineering or
physical science
- Willingness and ability to travel, up to 10% of the time
- 5+ years of leadership experience with the ability to
strategize, inspire and achieve goals
- 2+ years in an innovation and/or product management role
- Authored any relevant IEEE papersPersonal Qualities
- Communicate effectively, is pragmatic, builds strong
relationships and can influence
- Hold strong leadership skills and ability to engage, develop
and motivate own employees
- Ability to create trust through robust delivery and strong
relationship building
- Have the ability to respect and understand cultural diversity
and be able to communicate and relate to a number of personnel at
different levels
- Demonstrate foresight - know what is happening in the market,
