JOB DEFINITION:

The primary focus of this role will be on employee relations and investigations, supporting the Senior Human Resources Managers in day-to-day activities, and collaborating with other supervisors to draft and review warning letters and corrective action plans. Additionally, this position will provide valuable assistance and oversight to the Senior HR Generalist, who in turn works with the HR Specialists on benefits, leaves and accommodations, and workplace safety. The ideal candidate will have expertise in these HR fields and will be able to adeptly switch between competing priorities.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Employee Relations

  • Assist the Senior HR Managers in the organization and maintenance of employee complaints, grievances, and misconduct issues. This may include actions such as participating in meetings with employees and union representatives and drafting monthly disciplinary reports for DESC directors.
  • Provide timely and well-documented reports on investigation findings, making recommendations for appropriate actions.
  • Provide information for unemployment claims as required and participate in unemployment hearings.
  • Contribute to the development of training programs for managers and employees on employee relations best practices.
  • Collaborate with supervisors to draft and review warning letters, ensuring clarity and adherence to company policies.
  • Provide guidance on appropriate corrective action plans. Employee Engagement and Retention
    • Support the Employee Engagement Manager in planning and executing employee engagement initiatives.
    • Contribute to the development and implementation of programs aimed at improving employee morale, motivation, and satisfaction.
    • Schedule stay interviews/exit interviews with the Employee Engagement Manager. HR Development and Process Improvement
      • Alongside the Senior HR Managers, develop and implement HR policies, procedures, strategies, and initiatives, in accordance with company goals and objectives. This will include collaboration with senior leadership and departments across the agency.
      • Identify HR process improvement opportunities and lead HR process improvement projects.
      • Support and provide oversight to the Senior HR Generalist and four HR Specialists. As needed, assist with the processing of benefits changes, leaves and accommodations, and workplace injuries.
      • Collaborate with the HRIS Coordinator to leverage the capabilities of the HRIS (Paylocity), in order to improve and streamline functionality for HR duties as well as other agency needs.
      • Create and implement processes for frequent and accurate HR data entry audits. Other
        • Provide leadership and expertise with employee compensation and classification management. This will require partnering with the Payroll department, DESC senior leadership, and union representatives.
        • Ensure legal compliance throughout human resource management.
        • Serve as a point of contact for HR-related inquiries and concerns.
        • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in human resources.
        • Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements

          REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:

          • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization's HRIS and talent management systems. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

            Applicants must meet one of the following:
          • Bachelor's degree, three (3) years of HR experience, and either three (3) years (for bachelor's-level candidates) or one (1) year (for master's-level candidates) of supervisory or management experience.
          • Associate degree, four (4) years of HR experience, and four (4) years of supervisory or management experience.
          • Five (5) years of HR experience and five (5) years of supervisory or management experience.
            PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
            • Master's degree.
            • Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
            • SHRM-CP or PHR PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
              • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
              • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
              • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.

                Salary Description

                $98,962.56 - $111,969.12 annually
