Job Title: EHS Manager, Maritime Shipyard

Department: Safety

Reports to: Vice President



POSITION SUMMARY:

EHS manager provides strategic direction and oversight, aligned with business strategies, for occupational health, safety, hygiene, occupation medicine personal, environmental, and sustainability issues, including federal, state, and local regulations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Primary responsibilities are to ensure safety policies and company rules are enforced, and to ensure:

  • Managing the Safety Training Program to ensure employees understand & comply with all federal, state, local and company safety rules & regulations - - - -
  • Ensure employees are knowledgeable and trained in emergency situations
    • - - - -
    • Ensure employees comply with OSHA rules and regulations. - - - -
    • Oversight of injury incident investigation program, inclusive of root cause analysis and corrective action development and completion - - - -
    • Disseminate company safety policies to all employees - - - -
    • Identify existing gaps in the effectiveness of site safety and health management systems (ISO 45001); direct efforts to identify the causes for those gaps; and ensure implementation of corrective and preventive actions to close the gaps. - - - -
    • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced setting, perform other EHS duties as assigned. - - - -
    • Lead and assist with internal audit inspections related to the EHS program requirements - - - -
    • Ability to develop SOPs for the organization. - - - -
    • Identification, development and implementation of safety and health goals and objectives which will positively impact and add value to the organization - - - -
    • Where applicable, establish working relationship with contractor/customer safety committees. - - - -
    • Maintain site-specific EHS program and plans in accordance with state and federal regulations and company expectations - - - -
    • Uses every opportunity to drive EHS awareness by demonstrating safe behavior, continuous self-development, and education in areas of environmental, health & safety compliance, industry trends and regulatory developments - - - -
    • Act as the Site EHS representative with third parties, including neighboring businesses, local councils, and regulatory bodies - - - -
    • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies including but not limited to Cal-OSHA - - - -

        • MS degree in safety, industrial hygiene, engineering, or natural sciences - - - - - - - - - - - -
        • Experience:

          • 10-15 years' experience in safety and health management - - - -
          • Experience managing Environment, Safety and Health programs in heavy manufacturing - - - -
          • Experience managing or leading EHS professionals - - - -
          • Experience with safety management systems such as ISO 45001

            • Skills:

              • Maintain in-depth knowledge of existing Federal and Texas, State regulations - - - - - - - -
              • Understanding of company Quality, Environmental & Safety manual and procedures described therein - - - - - - - -
              • Supports the Corporate and Platform EHS program and direction - - - - - - - -PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

                Work is conducted in a dynamic, fast-paced office setting with moderate to loud noise levels from production activity in the shipyard. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. Barge chemical environment. Requires prolonged kneeling, standing, walking, twisting, climbing. Able to work in confined space, heights and operate equipment efficiently and safely. He/she may be required to work more than 8-hour shifts and weekend work.

                WORK ENVIRONMENT:

                While in production areas the person will be exposed to all weather conditions, noise, dusts, and odors. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
