REGISTERED NURSE - FREESTANDING INFUSION CENTER (PER DIEM, DAYS)

UW Medical Center - Northwest has an outstanding opportunity for a per diem (0% FTE, variable hours per week), day shift REGISTERED NURSE to join our ambulatory Freestanding Infusion Center, located at our Outpatient Medical Center (OPMC). Our Freestanding Infusion Center treats a broad range of conditions with chimeric monoclonal antibodies, anti-inflammatory tumor necrosis factor inhibiting agents, and other auto-immune biologics. The Registered Nurse will be responsible for administering outpatient infusion therapy.
SCHEDULE
Per diem schedule, variable hours per week, Monday - Friday only. Our clinic is closed on nights, weekends, and holidays.
RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Clinic RN, you will:

  • Screen patients for infusions of tumor necrosis factor (TNF) inhibitors and therapeutic treatments
  • Administer medication, steroids, chemotherapy, and blood products
  • Perform venipuncture and accesses implanted ports
  • Place IVs and observe patients during infusions
  • Disconnect IVs and monitor patients post-infusion
  • Consult with patients, family members, and other members of the health care team
  • Program portable infusion pumps for continuous drug delivery and provide pump usage instructions to the patient or caregiver
  • Clean pumps after each use and document proper pump usage
  • Facilitate dose modification by assessing patients and labs, consulting protocol or treatment plans
  • Calculate medication dosages for patients under the guidance and consultation of the patient's physician
  • Follow OSHA guidelines when handling cytotoxic agents and biohazardous waste
    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • 2 years of current or recent infusion therapy nursing experience
  • An active Registered Nurse license in the State of Washington

  • Exceptional IV placement and phlebotomy skills
  • Advanced knowledge in IV therapy, IV administration, and peripheral IV or midline maintenance
  • Familiarity with Epic EMR software
