This role encompasses assessing maternal and fetal health, administering treatments, and collaborating with healthcare teams to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care during labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period. The position requires strong clinical skills in obstetrics, critical thinking abilities, excellent communication, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and professional ethics. /n/nEssential Work Functions:/n/n /n/t - Communicate labor and delivery procedures to patients and families, providing reassurance and addressing concerns/n/t - Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved obstetric nursing techniques/n/t - Prepare equipment and aid physician during labor, delivery, and examination of patients/n/t - Provide immediate postpartum care, including assessment and stabilization of mother and newborn/n/t - Educate patients and families on postpartum recovery, breastfeeding, and newborn care/n/t - Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, neonatologists, and other team members to deliver cohesive care/n/t - Respond to obstetric emergencies, including preeclampsia, hemorrhage, or fetal distress, using evidence-based protocols/n/t - Document patient care, assessments, and interventions accurately in the medical record/n/t - Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance maternal and neonatal outcomes/n/t - Perform fetal monitoring and interpret results/n/t - Assist in cesarean sections and other obstetric procedures/n/t - Comply with all regulatory standards, including hospital policies, state laws, and federal guidelines for obstetric nursing care/n/t - Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of labor and delivery nursing/n /n/nRequired Essential Skills:/n/n /n/t - Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills/n/t - The ability to read, write, & communicate in the English language is required/n/t - Ability to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills/n/t - Physical Abilities - Remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50-100lbs), pushing, pulling, bending/n/t - Interpersonal Skills - To work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positive attitude and professionalism/n/t - Technical/Motor Skills - Ability to grasp, fine manipulation, pushing/pulling and able to move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment./n/t - Mental Requirements - Must be able to cope with frequent contact with the general public, customers, and meeting deadlines under pressure.
