Job Description:
Job Description Job Summary If you are looking for support and
mentorship as an ER doctor then Old Growth Veterinary Emergency &
Critical Care (OGVECC) has got you. We are seeking an emergency
veterinarian that truly values their support staff and who is
looking to continue to learn and grow on their journey to become
the best version of themselves. We are independently owned by a
mediocre criticalist and an amazing specialist technician and
opened in January 2025! You have access 24 hours a day to a consult
with a criticalist to discuss case management. The ideal candidate
is pumped about discussing emergency medicine and critical care.
They strive to stay current on the latest treatments and
diagnostics available. (You will be receiving journal article
summaries every couple of months). If interested the candidate
could meet up with Dr. Fults (criticalist) every six weeks or so to
discuss difficult cases, critical thinking, burnout, how to
spatchcock a turkey, etc…Additionally, the candidate would be
interested in performing emergency surgeries. If you don’t know
how, we can teach you, as well as how to use a vessel sealing
device, staplers for an resection and anastomosis, etc… The barrier
to care has risen astronomically over the past 5 years in the Puget
Sound region. Fewer and fewer clients can afford care for their
companions. OGVECC is trying to lower the barrier of care to make
it more accessible while still practicing exceptional quality
medicine. This gives more companions the chance of returning to
their families and families having more time with their companions.
We feel like this would also instill a sense of belonging to a
community that has been lost in emergency medicine. The ER doctor
has morphed into a traffic cop where others get to do all the good
stuff. We are looking to take the ER doctor back to their roots
where they do the airway wash, they do the splenectomy, they do the
complicated bite wound repair, where they do all the things. If
getting in there (with call in support if needed) and getting a
chance to master a variety of skills is what gets you excited to do
emergency and critical care, we are the hospital for you.
