Job Description OCRP Lead Instructor / Mental Health Professional (MHP) Department: Forensic Services Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week Pay Range: $75,000 - $85,000 per year (DOE/DOQ) Benefits: Medical, Dental & Vision Insurance Vacation, Sick Leave, Float Days & Paid Holidays 403(b) Retirement Plan Life Insurance Long-Term Disability Employee Assistance and Wellness Programs LifeFlight Membership Education Allowance About the Role The OCRP Lead Instructor / Mental Health Professional provides clinical and educational services within Peninsula Behavioral Health’s forensic programs, with a primary focus on the Outpatient Competency Restoration Program (OCRP) . In this role, you will conduct behavioral health assessments, deliver brief clinical interventions, and support competency restoration for individuals involved in the criminal legal system. You’ll work closely with participants to help them understand legal concepts, court processes, and barriers affecting their ability to engage in proceedings. Services are provided in a variety of settings including offices, jails, shelters, and community locations. This position also provides clinical consultation to program staff to help identify behavioral health needs that impact engagement, stability, and competency restoration. Key Responsibilities Clinical Assessment & Intervention Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments and clinical intakes for forensic program participants. Provide brief therapeutic interventions and supportive counseling. Develop, authorize, and review individualized treatment plans with measurable outcomes. Assess participants’ cognitive, emotional, and behavioral health needs across various settings. Identify behavioral health barriers that impact stability, engagement, and competency restoration. Competency Restoration Education Facilitate Breaking Barriers competency restoration classes and psychoeducational groups as part of the OCRP team. Provide clinical support during classes, clarify legal concepts, and address behavioral health barriers to learning. Offer individualized support for participants with cognitive or behavioral health challenges affecting comprehension. Competency Monitoring & Reporting Assess competency-related barriers at intake using clinical judgment and collateral information. Monitor and document participant engagement, progress, and changes in presentation. Complete required weekly status reports and communicate significant changes to the OCRP team. Collaborate on strategies to support competency restoration. Forensic System Coordination Work collaboratively with forensic navigators, legal system partners, and community providers. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case reviews. Provide clinical consultation to OCRP and forensic program staff. Share relevant clinical information to support coordinated care. Additional Duties Maintain accurate documentation meeting agency and state standards. Use the agency electronic medical record effectively. Participate in team meetings, program development, and professional training. Maintain confidentiality in accordance with all applicable laws and agency policies. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or related field Eligible for Agency Affiliated Counselor licensure in Washington (support provided) Two years of experience providing mental health services; experience with serious mental illness, co?occurring disorders, or justice?involved populations preferred Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record Ability to pass pre?employment drug test and background check Ability to provide required vaccination records (MMR, Hep B, Tdap, flu) Preferred Credentials Washington State independent or associate clinical license (LICSW, LMHC, LMFT) or eligibility to apply. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Ability to manage a diverse caseload and multitask effectively. Strong understanding of mental health symptoms across developmental stages. Ability to provide psychoeducation on mental health diagnoses and treatments. Knowledge of recovery-oriented and trauma?informed practices. Strong group facilitation skills. Ability to work with individuals involved in the criminal justice system. Effective communication skills (written and verbal). Strong judgment and clinical intervention skills. Ability to coordinate care with multiple providers and work independently. Organizational skills with the ability to meet agency performance and documentation standards. Work Environment & Physical Requirements Moderate physical activity; ability to lift up to 10 lbs. Ability to sit for extended periods in office, vehicle, or community settings. Exposure to individuals with complex behavioral health needs, including occasional assaultive behaviors. Frequent schedule demands, crisis situations, and unpredictable environments.
