This position plans, organizes, and provides nursing services to clinic patients in conjunction with clinic Providers. In addition, this position assists and supports the Nurse Supervisor with a range of administrative duties including hiring and recruitment, training and development, attending cross-functional meetings and other duties as assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities
Registered Nurse Clinical Duties: 75% of time.

  • Provide direct and indirect patient care to clinic clients; initiate and implement patient care plan; perform functions of an RN.
  • Plan and conduct daily huddle of nurse appointment schedule.
  • Triage patient information who walk-in or call-in and establish priorities according to their age, symptoms, and psychological needs per nursing triage protocol; consult with Provider and/or RN regarding nursing decision and/or care plan. Acquire additional patient information, as needed and/or delegated, by the Provider to identify progress and trends that require intervention.
  • Assess emergency situations, critical lab values, and urgent condition changes and immediately report them to the appropriate Provider.
  • Assess patient educational needs and find opportunities in patient contact to provide general health information and help promote healthy lifestyles as culturally appropriate.
  • Coordinate with Providers on patient care, medication authorization, refill, and patient medication assistance program according to the agency's protocol and procedures.
  • Monitor clinic flow and perform duties as necessary to ensure efficiency of patient care.
  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as ordered by Providers; assist with procedures as directed by Providers.
  • Order vaccines and lab tests for patients, and collect, handle, and process lab specimens appropriately and according to policies and procedures.
  • Maintain standards of accurate and complete recordkeeping and reporting.
  • Maintain medical crash cart, medication cabinet, and medication draw in the procedures room fully stocked and neat with medication, instruments, and medical supplies.
  • Call, respond and assist in Code Blue Emergency Response.
  • Support and enforce infection control policies, practices and procedures.
  • Actively participate in appropriate Quality Improvement program and activities; promote a work environment of service, teamwork and respect. Work courteously and respectfully with other employees, follow direction and work well under pressure.

    Administrative Duties: 25% of time.

    • Serve as liaison between nurse staff and nurse supervisor; ensure efficient staffing; assist supervisor with training and improve and monitor standard workflow.
    • Schedule Nurse coverage (maintain monthly schedule).
    • Oversee and schedule staff resources as needed during staffing or volume fluctuations (maintain daily schedule).
    • Prepare order for all medication for clinic site supplies and maintain auditing for medication inventory.
    • Educate and support Medical Assistant staff of Washington State Immunization Program.
    • Work with clinic providers and staff to maintain and continuously improve service delivery.
    • Assist RN supervisor in daily operations of nursing functions and staff, including hiring, training, determining workload and assignments, monitoring and evaluating performance, and other personnel matters important to RN supervisor
    • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws and agency policies and procedures; maintain and protect patient PHI and ePHI and participate in and lead the development and maintenance of clinic related policies, protocols, and procedures.
    • Oversee safety and health in the clinic, including patient safety, reporting all injuries and illnesses, completing and submitting incident/accident reports, identifying and correcting hazardous conditions or unsafe work practices to Safety Committee, and ensuring staff follow all safety and health guidelines, practices, policies and procedures. Actively participate in Emergency Management program and activities.
    • Run nurse task completion and monthly report. Review and audit monthly nurse documentation in EHR to ensure accuracy.
    • May Participate in Clinic Informatics Committee and provide NextGen training to staff as needed.

      Job Requirements

      • Education ' Completion of Registered Nurse program and current Washington State RN license.
      • Experience ' Two years RN experience; one year in a leadership role. Computer proficiency including EMR. Fluency in English and preferred fluency in an API language.
