The Skokomish Indian Tribe is seeking to hire Medical Assistant



The Medical Assistant duties include administrative functions such as answering phones, greeting patients, processing patient medical records in the EHR/RPMS computer systems, scheduling appointments, coordination of consultations and referrals for hospitalization, specialty care, labs/x-rays, etc. appointments. Clinic support duties include taking medical histories, recording vital signs, assisting during examination, collection/preparation of lab specimens, drawing blood, taking electrocardiograms, removing sutures, etc. Must be currently credentialed in Washington State as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA). A minimum of one-year experience of clinical duties is required, preferably in a clinical practice setting including pediatrics, assisting minor procedures, immunization administration, injections and medications or equivalent work. POSITION: MEDICAL ASSISTANTSUPERVISOR: DEPUTY HEALTH DIRECTORSALARY RANGE: $18.50- $22.00 HOURLY 1 FTE

NATURE OF WORK:

The Medical Assistant duties include administrative functions such asanswering phones, greeting patients, processing patient medical records in the EHR/RPMScomputer systems, scheduling appointments, coordination of consultations and referrals forhospitalization, specialty care, labs/x-rays, etc appointments. Clinic support duties include takingmedical histories, recording vital signs, assisting during examination, collection/ preparation oflab specimens, drawing blood, taking electrocardiograms, removing sutures, etc.REPRESENTATIVE JOB DUTIES:1. Room patients for examination, obtaining chief complaint, vital signs, weight, medications,allergies, smoking history, pain assessment, date of injury, etc.2. Assist providers with procedures/treatments as necessary.3. Provide medical supplies to patients as indicated by the provider.4. Order supplies and/or equipment as required.5. Telephone responsibilities include taking messages for providers, returning patient calls, andcoordinating with referral coordinator to set up outside appointments and/or referrals.6. Clean and stockrooms on a regular basis.7. Clean and maintain surgical instruments, using the autoclave for sterilizing instruments.8. Receive medical charts from medical records, completing and attaching appropriate forms,documents in Electronic Health Records.9. Responsible for drawing laboratory specimens, labeling accurately, centrifuging specimensas indicated, completing lab form correctly, obtaining correct insurance information to beincluded with lab forms and placing in locked box at end of day for pick up.10. Inventory medications in stock and re-order as indicated.11. Administer immunizations or therapeutic agents as ordered, documenting in chart and ChildProfile Registry.12. Perform 12 lead EKG as ordered by provider13. Patient education (example: crutch walking/gait training, dressing changes, etc.).14. Perform other duties as assignedMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:1. High School diploma or a GED required.2. Must be currently credentialed in Washington State as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA).3. A minimum of one-year experience of clinical duties is required, preferably in a clinical practice setting including pediatrics, assisting minor procedures, immunization administration, injections and medications or equivalent work.4. Must have working knowledge and be proficient in Electronic Health Records. 5. CPR and FIRST AID required at time of hire6. Must be able to work in a team environment and be able to work varied hours when necessary to accomplish the goals of the department.7. Must have ability to visually distinguish colors and obtain blood samples; manualdexterity to operate laboratory equipment and obtain samples from patients; and physical dexterity to re-position patients to obtain blood samples.8. Candidate must have a valid driver's license and be eligible for the Tribe's automobile insurance.9. Candidate must have an understanding of and sensitivity to the particular problems faced by the Native American community.10. Must be able to work in a team environment.11. The selected candidate must successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen test, and a complete finger print background investigation, including relevant criminal history, prior to employment.
