Providence is calling a Registered Nurse Clinical Documentation Specialist (1.0 FTE, Days) to work in Utilization Management at Providence Regional Medical Center Everett, in Everett, WA.The RN Clinical Documentation Specialist collaborates with Clinicians by performing concurrent review of Inpatient Records to facilitate accurate and compliant documentation of the patient's severity of illness.In this position you will:Work with Clinicians and Coders to successfully implement the Compliant Documentation Management Program (CDMP) for MS-DRG and AP-DRG payers on assigned Hospital Units.Utilize the guidelines established for CDMP to recognize opportunities for improvement in Clinician documentation, and to formulate and generate clear, compliant and concurrent questions to those Clinicians.Communicate in a timely and appropriate fashion, both verbally and in writing, with Clinicians; Follow-up on pending queries, and update CDMP worksheets as needed.Complete monthly reconciliation of CDS coded records, collaborating with the HIM Coding team to ensure accuracy of the medical records and resolution of any discrepancies you may find during reconciliation.Participate in monthly Task Force Meetings with HIM Coders, and take rotation as a Co-Chair to lead the meeting.Qualifications:Required qualifications for this position include:Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) all Registered Nurses without a minimum of a Bachelors degree in Nursing must obtain one within (5) years of hire.Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington StateFive (5) years of recent experience as an RN in an acute care (hospital) setting, preferrably in Critical Care or the Emergency DepartmentPreferred qualifications for this position include:Experience with CDMPPrior experience using Electronic Medical Records (EMR), such as EPICPrior experience using the Microsoft Office SuiteAbout the hospital you will serve:Providence Regional Medical Center Everett in Everett, WA is the state's most award-winning hospital for medical care; having received the HealthGrades Distinguished Hospital Award for Clinical Excellence four years in a row.
