Are you ready to engage with a mission-driven organization that is life-changing to many, and touches the hearts of all? #HOPECARECURE -- REGISTERED NURSE - AMBULATORY FLOAT POOL -- We're hiring for a Registered Nurse to join our Ambulatory float pool. The ambulatory float pool provides coverage and support for the multiple subspecialty clinics housed at Seattle Children---s hospital to ensure adequate staffing to meet the needs of our patients and families. Float nurses partner with interdisciplinary care teams consisting of MDs, PAs, nurse practitioners, medical assistants, social workers, nutritionists and specialty based technicians in each department. Our nursing team supports providers in both direct patient care and in the back office. Direct patient care includes complex care coordination, preoperative, post-operative and diagnosis specific teaching and family support. Our back office roles focus on telephone triage and ---after-visit--- care coordination. Float nurses are expected to develop a broad knowledge base in ambulatory pediatric nursing, but do focus on a smaller group of subspecialties for their day to day work. -- As an integral member of the Health Care Team, the RN functions within the Scope of Practice as defined by the State, the ANA Scope and Standards for Pediatric Nursing Practice, and adheres to Seattle Children---s policies/procedures and guidelines of care. Responsible for providing safe, family centered patient care. Using the Nursing Care Process, the RN is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care in a collaborative method with the patient and patient---s family, significant others, and members of the health care team. May be required to provide supervision and delegation of tasks to Nurse Technicians, Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Medical Assistants, and others as defined by the State Administrative Code. Assists in meeting Seattle Children---s strategic goals by incorporating the initiatives to support the strategic plans into the daily work, i.e. Continuous Performance Improvement (CPI), ART, etc. -- Our founding promise to the community is as valid today as it was over a century ago: we will care for all children in our region, regardless of the families--- ability to pay. Requirements Required Education/Experience: - Graduate of accredited school of nursing. - Prior experience in a pediatric related health care setting, or a specific area of nursing, may be required for specific departments. - Per the driver's license requirement noted below, must have a driving record acceptable to Risk Management. Required Credentials: - Current Washington State RN License, or other current state license that the RN is required to work in. - Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers is required for all positions. Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) will be accepted in lieu of BLS for Healthcare Providers. ACLS will not be accepted as a substitute to the requirements listed above. Employees are responsible for any costs (including time away from work) associated with obtaining PALS or PEARS certification if it is not a requirement of the position. - Nurses working in the following areas are required to successfully obtain PEARS within 6 months of employment, and subsequently maintain at all times: - Acute Care Float - Cancer Care Unit - Dialysis - Infusion - Medical Unit - Psychiatric Unit - Rehabilitation Unit - Research nurses working in Cancer Care and CCTR - Surgical Unit - Vascular Access Services - Nurses working in the following areas are required to successfully obtain PALS within 3 months of employment, and subsequently maintain at all times: - Cardiac Intensive Care Unit - Cath Lab & Special Procedures - Clinical Research Center - Critical Care Float - Emergency Department - Neonatal Intensive Care Unit - Pediatric Intensive Care Unit - Pediatric Transport Control - Radiology (including Interventional Radiology and Endoscopy Lab) - Recovery Room (PACU) - Surgery (including Bellevue Surgery Center) - Urgent Care (all locations) - New graduate nurses in the following areas are required to successfully obtain PALS within 6 months of employment, and subsequently maintain at all times: - Cardiac Intensive Care Unit - Emergency Department - Neonatal Intensive Care Unit - Pediatric Intensive Care Unit - Radiology (including Interventional Radiology and Endoscopy Lab) - Recovery Room (PACU) - Surgery (including Bellevue Surgery Center) - Nurses working in the following areas are required to successfully obtain a Chemotherapy Biotherapy Provider Card from the Association of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurses (APHON) within 6 months of employment, and subsequently maintain at all times: - Acute Care Float (Nurse Travelers are exempt from this requirement) - Cancer Care Unit - Hematology/Oncology - Infusion - Nurses working in Neonatal Transport Team are required to successfully obtain Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification (in addition to PALS) within 3 months of employment. Current NRP and PALS is to be maintained at all times. - Nurses working in Airlift Northwest are required to obtain Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification by 9/30/18, or within 3 months of position entry, whichever is later. - Nurses working in the Psychiatric Unit and Child Psych Consultation are required to obtain Code Purple Certification (internal training) within 3 months of hire. The Code Purple training must be current at all times, i.e. annual training completed prior to the expiration date. - As per the College of American Pathologists (CAP) and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), for nurses performing moderately complex point of care testing, a copy of a diploma or transcript of the highest level of academic achievement to be on record with Human Resources upon hire. For personnel trained outside of the U.S., records of diploma/transcript must provide documented equivalency evaluation by a foreign credentialing agency. - Specialty certification in area of practice may be required for specific departments. - Any position that requires use of a motor vehicle will require a current Washington State Driver's license. - If assigned to a Home Care Services department, a copy of required education for this position (diploma or transcript) must be submitted upon hire.
