Job Description:

$500 sign-on bonus per company policy is paid following 90 days employment.

Location: 1607 N 45th St., Seattle, WA 98103

Rate of Pay: $16.20 per hour plus tips. Estimated tip average is $7.00 - $9.00 per hour. New hires are excluded from the tip pool for the first five (5) training shifts.

Schedule: Full-time, est. 4 shifts per week. 4AM - 12PM; Sunday's and Mondays required. Scheduling flexibility is required, ability to work weekends is required.

Job Summary

The Pastry Baker (Senior Caf-- Team Member) role is an integral part of the efficient, enthusiastic team that makes Grand Central Bakery's vibrant cafes such wonderful spaces to be in. The Pastry Baker (Senior Caf-- Team Member) is passionate about serving delicious food and drink to a community of loyal customers. They are expected to regularly and efficiently work any shift as needed, including working on the sandwich bar during a rush, and frequently serves as Person In Charge (PIC).

Responsibilities And Duties

  • Proficient on Point-of-Sale System
  • Serving customers Grand Central's bread, pastries, and food
  • Displays product knowledge of all items on our menus
  • Works in a way that maintains a clean caf-- environment including bussing, washing dishes, and executing all necessary caf-- cleaning tasks
  • Shares knowledge about where and how our products are sourced with customers and team members
  • Works in a way that can improve the caf-- environment- takes initiative, contributes ideas, is solutions oriented
  • Often leads in training and acts as the PIC as needed
  • Has a "pitches in" mentality, can be seen volunteering with duties or helping others
  • Adheres to proper cash handling procedures and standards with a high level of accuracy
  • Works collaboratively with a team
  • Knows and demonstrates efficient, correct and safe work and procedures

    Qualifications And Skills
    • Must be at least 18 years old
    • Ability to read, write, and speak English required
    • Maintains food handler's card - new hires are expected to have a valid card by their first date of work
    • HS diploma/GED preferred
    • Basic math skills required
    • Must display professionalism and personality with customers

      Physical Requirements

      The Pastry Baker (Senior Caf-- Team Member) is required to stand for 100% of the shift. The role necessitates working in a loud environment with frequent interruptions. This position may require lifting and carrying items up to 20 lbs.

      This position works in a building containing a bakery and is constantly exposed to wheat flour dust and other grain dusts (rye, corn, oat).
