Job Summary and Mission
This leadership position is responsible for the successful innovation, development, deployment and operations of the Starbucks IoT programs. This role will have close working relationships with the equipment R&D teams, helping define the software and data components needed for their equipment. This includes working with the equipment manufacturers, the standardization of equipment data capture, delivery and operationalization of that data in our cloud environment. Support and lead the development of management dashboards, technical tools and data services that the equipment, facilities, store operations and retail partners need in their everyday work.This organization also includes the teams responsible for the selection, installation service, lifecycle and operation of retail infrastructure hardware and devices. The Retail HW Solutions team works on the selection, proper integration, and operationalization of over 30 infrastructure devices in the store that power the retail business. This includes display and connectivity solutions for drive-through, menu and order displays in the cafes and pickups, point of sale hardware, payment devices and labelers, and back of house infrastructure amongst others. These teams work closely with application teams and operations to ensure that the HW solutions are providing the results the retail partners are counting on at the stores.To be successful in this role, you need to be a super collaborator. The ability to partner closely and co-create with customers and stakeholder organizations to delivery products, services and business value is critical. This includes continually fostering and developing innovation opportunities in a highly emergent and disruptive tech landscape. Ability to self-promote and market successes in this space and ensure innovation and team recognition is crucial to success.As a senior leader on the Retail Infrastructure and Store Technology team, you will be expected to participate and help drive in the following ways:
Leadership

  • Models leadership behaviors that are grounded in Starbucks Mission and Values.
  • Drives the engagement, development, and performance of all members of their team.
  • Work closely with the managers to ensure they are successful in delivery for their teams.
  • Sets vision and goals for the teams, development of organizational delivery
  • Works closely with the RIT leadership team in supporting and defining the organizational goals, how the teams work together and support each other
  • Work with the equipment R&D, store development, store operations, security, Starbucks technology and other organizations in defining the right solutions for the need
  • Foster a culture of innovation and thought leadership. Support innovative concepts and provide opportunities to transform ideas into technology solutions.Planning and Execution
    • Ensure that the managers have the right definitions, prioritization and requirements to be successful with company business goals and objectives
    • Engage with the teams on the right development and operations process to be most successful in their deliveries
    • Communicate those deliveries, plans and value propositions across the company
    • Working with RIT leadership, ensure the yearly and strategic plans are defined and understood across the organizations
    • Manage the budgets and as needed move the levers to ensure the right work is being funded and completed
    • Lead the cross team projects when needed to ensure that all teams are being successfulBusiness Requirements
      • Provides functional expertise and executing functional responsibilities.
      • Be the ambassador for the organizations work, ensuring that business and market needs are being prioritized and fulfilled
      • Coordinate across the company to ensure IoT and Retail HW is valued and ensure appropriate "marketing" of the team and accomplishments is done
      • Manage the vendor relationships as needed to ensure the teams are getting the most value from those relationships
      • Provide means for innovation to happen across the organization to provide the most solution and value as possible
      • Ensure that measurement is being done to ensure that the team is truly being successfulPartner Development & Team Building
        • Providing partners with coaching, feedback, and developmental opportunities and building effective teams:
        • Challenges and inspires partners to achieve business results and progress and optimize the technology and operations of the solutions provided
        • Conducts and ensures the completion of performance reviews
        • Ensures partners adhere to legal and operational compliance requirements - Oversees training and development of partners directly and indirectly managed and makes effective staffing decisions.
        • Provides coaching, direction, and leadership support to team members to achieve partners, business, and customer results
