This position reports to the manager of technology products & solutions within the Starbucks Technology Governance Risk and Compliance (GRC) team. GRC's broad remit is to ensure Starbucks Technology successfully addresses its compliance requirements across many program areas (i.e. SOX, PCI, CCPA, GDPR as well as any new legislation that should emerge) through understanding and driving programs to align risks and controls while clearly enabling an assessment of risks to be accepted, meeting evolving compliance and internal controls requirements in a streamlined, cost-effective manner. This position is responsible for establishing global GRC technology strategy and continued development and oversight of the program and services. We design, build, and nurture a digital GRC and Legal Risk and Compliance (LRC) ecosystem that elevates the Starbucks brand and grows our business by amplifying human connections, relationships, and experiences. To be successful, the technical product manager needs to have significant technical acumen and experience along with a passion for delighting product users with simple solutions and engaging technology experiences. Summary of Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following: Leadership -- Setting goals for the work group, developing organizational capability, and modeling how we work together:

  • Manages GRC and legal risk and compliance technology product planning and development through day to day collaboration and decision making with a cross functional team including architects, developers, designers and business or subject matter representatives
  • Owns effective relationships with engineering, and product teams across Starbucks Technology Product Definition & Value
    • Responsible for determining business needs, understanding market demands and technical trends, problem solving and proposing solutions
    • Works with the manager of technology products & solutions and business stakeholders to scope and prioritize upcoming projects into the roadmap
    • Builds strong vendor relationships to influence product roadmaps while managing contractual arrangements and service-level agreement compliance
    • Align with business partners to balance business and technical objectives and manifest these as clear, stable priorities for the team
    • Manages product planning through day to day collaboration and decision making with a cross-functional team including engineers, vendors and business partners
    • Defines non-functional requirements including performance, scalability, resilience, usability, accessibility, security, and business continuity
    • Responsible for documentation of requirements, and acceptance criteria per process, provides guidance to others in working team
    • Works with vendors, engineering, and business stakeholders to align on priority of bug fixes, new features or modules and leads delivery planning
    • Ensures engineering and vendor teams have needed information on endpoints, inputs and outputs
    • Identifies technical tradeoffs, escalates risks, and manages mitigation in collaboration with neighbor ST teams
    • Works with engineering and vendors to define technical solution for experiment definition
    • Defines product health and performance metrics
    • Creates dashboard/reporting requirements and KPIs to measure product performance
    • Identifies opportunities to improve feature performance and overall product health using data
    • Measures feature success post deployment and feeds insights back to the team and business partners Planning and Execution -- Developing strategic and operational plans for the work group, managing execution, and measuring results:
      • Translates customer experience into technical requirements and product solutions
      • Drives technical solution for large features/technically complex features independently
      • Is technically adept on end-to-end system architecture
      • Creates data flows and functional and technical specifications as needed
      • Responsible for defining the acceptance criteria of a product feature
      • Helps resolve technical blocking issues and coordinates solutions across multiple technical teams
      • Performs validation of feature against customer and business goals and acceptance criteria
      • Determines technical feasibility, dependencies, and constraints of features with support from neighboring technology -teams as needed
      • Identifies and documents technical tradeoffs as well as dependencies and constraints
      • Performs validation of feature against stated goals; facilitates user review/acceptance testing
      • Manages execution and eliminates blocking issues during development
      • Works with cross-functional teams on feature sizing and delivery planning
      • Effective communications of product delivery milestones and progress Operations and Support
        • Manages and supports configuration and other changes in partnership with business admins
        • Implements, tests, and deploys application configuration changes
        • Responsible for ensuring product vulnerabilities are addressed and appropriate controls are in place
        • Manages tier 2/3 incidents escalated by business teams and drives resolution with engineering, vendor and neighboring technology teams as needed
        • Monitors integrations, logging and other operations to proactively identify and resolve issues Business Requirements - Providing functional expertise and executing functional responsibilities:
          • Stays abreast of new technology capabilities and leverages knowledge in contributing to product solutions.
          • Monitors feature performance to find opportunities to address continuous improvement
          • Manages a cross-team digital product roadmap
          • Drives optimization and process improvements between product, design, and development teams
          • Recommends and plans innovative products and features. Basic Qualifications
            • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field
            • Legal risk and compliance and/or technology governance risk and compliance (4 years)
            • Demonstrated ability to work with design and engineering to deliver customer facing features (4 years)
            • Project leadership and management (4 years)
            • Budget planning and management (4 years)
            • High performance data management team leadership (4 years)
            • Management of process reengineering (4 years)
            • Experience with GRC technologies (e.g. eDiscovery, legal holds, case/matters management, legal billing, etc.) (4 years)
            • Progressive experience managing varied information technology teams and data projects (4 years)
            • Strategic insight and business acumen (4 years)
            • Vendor management (4 years)
            • Hands on experience in developing roadmaps, priorities, features, story outlines, writing user stories, refining product backlogs, and coordinating/prioritizing conflicting requirements in a fast-paced, changing environment with variety of stakeholders (4 years)
            • Industry experience in a technology environment with a record of successfully delivering complex products (4+ years)
            • Hands on experience in developing roadmaps, priorities, features, story outlines, writing user stories, refining product - backlogs, and coordinating/prioritizing conflicting requirements in a fast-paced, changing environment with variety of - stakeholders (4 years)
            • Industry experience in a technology environment with a record of successfully delivering complex products (4+ years)
            • Negotiation and conflict management skills Preferred Qualifications
              • 5+ years of industry experience in a technology environment with a record of successfully delivering complex products
              • Experience with Legal technologies such as ServiceNow, (4 years)
              • Working knowledge of key global GRC compliance laws and industry best practices
              • Ability to work within large organizations to collaborate and drive cross-functional efforts, and build partnerships to secure the resources necessary to achieve goals
              • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, persuasion, and the ability to communicate data governance concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
              • Significant experience with data use cases in online, mobile, e-commerce, and cloud computing environments, marketing technologies, and analytics
              • Ability to advise and influence all levels of the organization effectively, including executive management regarding data governance best practices
              • Hands on experience in developing roadmaps, story outlines, writing user stories, refining product backlogs, and coordinating/prioritizing conflicting requirements across teams in a fast-paced, changing environment
              • Ability to thoroughly understand complex business and technical issues and influence decision making
              • Ability to apply knowledge of multidisciplinary business principles and practices to achieve successful outcomes in cross-functional projects and activities
