Database Developer/ProgrammerTechnology Department
Purpose of the JobDevelops and maintains enterprise-class data warehouse, integrating data sets from district and state databases and various legacy applications. Create and maintain common query, reporting, and data export routines. Develop front end application software to access district data from a wide variety of applications and interfaces. Administer district server and network infrastructure; integrate functions between various platforms. Work closely with all departments to fulfill their data integration, access, and reporting needs.
Essential Job Functions:1. -Develop and maintain district data warehouse. 2. - - - - -Develop and maintain enterprise-wide data models.3. - - - - -Define procedures and identify process improvements related to database management. 4. - - - - -Maintain documentation and configuration information for systems including schema, data dictionaries, stored procedures, operational routines, and backups.5. - - - - -Create and update data access routines (including stored procedures, triggers, and import/export), and front-end interfaces (for system management) as necessary.6. - - - - -Function as subject matter expert (SME) of district databases provided by the Washington State Information Processing Cooperative (WSIPC)7. - - - - -Perform system administration duties and assume primary responsibility of database server -environment, including data integrity, security, backup, disaster recovery, capacity planning, and upgrades.8. - - - - -Participate in administration of district data center and network infrastructure, along side other members of the technology department.9. - - - - -Work closely with immediate supervisor and district admins to ensure district goals are being met10. -Work with district staff and third-party developers to onboard and establish integration of new systems with existing systems and data warehouse. -11. -Perform similar, related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:Education and Experience:1. - - - - - -Associate or bachelor's degree in computer science or related field (preferred), or equivalent experience2. - - - - -Experience working in academic or educational environment3. - - - - -Five years minimum of server, network, and database administration experience4. - - - - -In-depth working knowledge of relational database concepts, design, and optimization 5. - - - - -Extensive experience with SQL and MySQL, including creation/update of tables, triggers, views, stored - - - - -procedures, data transfer, data migration, upsizing, legacy system migration, reporting functions and tools, and complex SQL queries6. - - - - -Strong background in Server administration, including Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, SQL, IIS, Office suite, System Center, Azure, Intune7. - - - - -Strong background in Linux server administration, including MySQL, Apache, CentOS, Ubuntu, Red Hat 8. - - - - -Experience administering virtual server hypervisor platforms, in particular VMware ESXi, VCenter, and VSphere9. - - - - -Demonstrated knowledge of networking fundamentals and administration of Cisco networking equipment within Cisco iOS
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills (written and oral)
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks or projects simultaneously, take direction from Supervisor(s), and work effectively in a high stress, high demand environment
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain professionalism and work effectively in a team environment, with a variety of personalities, during problem situations, and effectively communicate with non-technical staff
  • Ability to be a self-starter, find creative solutions, and remain abreast of technical developments in -the field of information management and emerging technologies
  • Ability to move objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and crouch, crawl, bend, or kneel while servicing computer or network equipment
    Licenses, Certificates, and Special Requirements:1. - - - - -MSCE certification preferred2. - - - - -Valid Washington State Driver's License and good driving record3. - - - - -Required to be accessible during off-hours for system emergencies4. - - - - -Occasional need to work additional hours or on weekends
