We are looking for a highly motivated and talented individual who will be comfortable in a fast-paced development environment and will be a key contributor to the software, algorithms and application development engineering team. At Luminex, our highest priority is developing innovative solutions for cell analysis applications using novel technologies. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be a part of our small team of algorithm and software developers working on cutting-edge technology products with focus on high throughput computer vision systems and high dimensional statistical data analysis software. Working closely with our biology and instrumentation engineering teams, you will help design and implement robust, creative and impactful solutions using advanced cellular analysis methods to support instrument operation and a variety of biological applications such as blood cell morphology analysis for disease detection, sperm cell morphology analysis for infertility studies, toxicity detection for drug development and algae analysis for biofuels.What you will doDesign and Implement user-friendly interfaces for instrumentation and analysis softwareResearch instruments and new technology in the flow cytometry market to inform the development of easy to use and feature-rich softwareInteract with hardware engineers, biologists, and other relevant stakeholders to develop use cases for new and existing productsDevelop and document business requirements that support the use cases and provide the basis for system level testingTranslate business requirements into a structured, maintainable, easy to use user interface design that meets the product requirementsPlay a key role in defining and designing a robust system-level SW architecture that can work across multiple SW productsMock/prototype interfaces and present to stakeholdersImplement User interfaces in C++/Qt on WindowsActively participate in the full software life cycle developmentUsing object-oriented methodologies, develop user interface software to meet product design specificationsAct as a senior advisor and mentor within the team and contribute to the technical direction and corresponding decision making within the team and beyondDevelop and execute unit level test plans to ensure software qualityIntegrate and test user interface software with the real-time instrument server softwareParticipate in design and code reviews, and communicate technical concepts clearly and effectively both verbally and in writingTrack, debug, and resolve all issues detected in the application softwareAssist customer support, service, and production with detection and resolution of any problems that may occur in-house or in the fieldEducation Qualifications Bachelor's Degree (CS or CE preferred) required Master's/Ph.D. Degree (CS or CE is preferred) preferred Experience Minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; 6 years with a Master's degree; or 3 years with a PhD requiredExperience with C++, especially enterprise multi-threaded applications desiredExperience with QT or other UI toolkits such as WPF, or Win forms desiredExperience defining requirements and/or architectural design desiredExperience with Data Modeling and Schema design with Relational and/or NoSQL databases desired. PostGres, SQLite, or RocksDB experience a plus. Training and Skills Interest in creating and maintaining customer focused Graphical User Interfaces (GUI)Comfortable following best software engineering practices, including coding standards, code reviews, and testingExperience with a version control system such as Git, Perforce, or othersExperience mentoring other developersCapable of delivering on multiple competing priorities with little supervisionAbility to work with a team of software engineers to accomplish a common goalComfortable working throughout the software lifecycle development process (design, development, testing, release)Strong organizational skills, flexibility to changing priorities and needs, attention to detail and accuracy, and multi-tasking abilityExcellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skillsExperience working in a multi-disciplinary environment such as in a life sciences companyStandard Working Conditions Work onsite at Luminex office Travel Requirements Some travel may be required, less than 10% of the time Luminex Corporation is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
